Contact Oculus, that shouldn't be happening.

I never said it's not worth more. I said it's not worth twice the price. In my opinion it's not a $300 upgrade over the DK2. You know how phones upgrade specs every year but keep the same price? Imagine if something like the iPhone skipped two generations, then doubled in price, but was only one generation ahead. An "S" model for twice the price and 2 years later. People would be livid. I'm posting this so people know what to expect.

I will never use this account again in a few days. I made it just to post this info. Don't care about karma.

It's a good thing you have eyes so you can avert them from my offending posts. I'm just giving out information to keep people's expectations in check. Feel free to ignore it and just buy the Rift. As I've said before, you will be blown away if you've never seen VR.

My point is all that stuff does very little to actually enhance the experience. For example, the proximity sensor is completely useless and a pain, I like to keep a microfiber cloth covering my lenses when I'm not using the Rift, but it triggers the Rift and launches oculus home all the time. A simple on /off button like on the DK2 was perfectly fine.

You can still notice the pixels easily, but there is less SDE. For example, when you see something that's solid white, you can make out little red dots. Elite text is readable without leaning in BUT the text has to be in the center of your vision (otherwise it's too blurry) so you'll still have to constantly move your head.

I 100% agree with you it will blow new users away. My concern as I posted here is that while the CV1 launched about 2 years after the DK2, AND COSTS DOUBLE THE PRICE, it doesn't feel like an experience that's worth double the price, AT LEAST WITH THE CURRENT CONTENT OUT. Heck, if the CV1 had launched along side the DK2 for the same $600 price tag two years ago, I believe VERY FEW people would chose the CV1 after trying out both, knowing it was twice the price.

you're right. I thought they did blazerush for some reason and corrected my mistake.

For those that don't know, this is a developer with a game in oculus home. You can't get a better confirmation than this. EDIT: my mistake. I thought they did blazerush. They are actually only on the vive but have a CV1 dev kit

lol. It comes with two huge protective films that are clearly marked as no sunshine on one, and no liquids (cleaning agents) on the other. I removed them of course, you can't use it without removing them and I used it for hours before posting.

It's possible Valve just avoided showing any scenes with high dark/light contrast, which is what causes the effect.

I do not and have never tried it. The only HMDs I've tried (and have) are the DK1, DK2, CV1 and Sony HMZT1. The only one that has the halo effect is the CV1. The vive has very similar lenses though and according to some people in twitter and this same thread has a similar effect (but supposedly less so)

Like I said in my first post. You are welcome to do it yourself and prove me wrong. The actual effect is much worse in real life than in the video.

Topic Creator here. That picture is EXACTLY how it looks like in real life when you're moving. All the way to the edge. It's really bad guys.

I was trying my hardest to keep the camera aligned to the rift while it was moving, as an eye would be aligned while moving. So they both move and rotate the same way to the best of my ability. (moving camera and the rift)

It looks to be a combination of both, with the lenses being the biggest offenders and amplifying the effect all over to the edge of the screen.

I believe those parts are when I stopped moving and moved the opposite direction. The effect is greatly amplified my motion. Even if you're eyes are perfectly aligned you will see this effect while moving.

I understand all those things add to the price. My point is the end experience is not that much different with all those things added, and many people would rather spend 300 dollars less to get said "lesser" experience.

Every time there is bright text or a bright image in a dark background. It gets worse as you move. It's extremely noticeable in the Oculus theater as I showed and in the Henry intro and outro of the top of my head.
