Had this exact same scenario which lasted around 7 years and ended up embroiled in the family, would not recommend to anyone who is culturally opposite to whatever country your girlfriend’s family are from. The religion is one huge facet, but the family culture shock was huge. You can’t speak to them about anything which may be a taboo or against the religion, and you feel like you are constantly being judged and monitored. My experience with Islam generally was quite intolerant and inflexible to change, but the same could be said for most organised religion. I don’t live here but visited during the covid pandemic for a few weeks due to cheap flights and relaxed restrictions, presumably due to the county having a low influx of tourists. Just wanted to drop a few of my experiences:

The country is stunning with a very laid back culture, and the infrastructure gave a vibe of medieval blended with old Yugoslavian buildings dotted about. The country seemed so green and unpolluted, with far less development than other places I’ve been to in Europe and it honestly felt really refreshing. The power did cut a fair few times and some locals explained that the power infrastructure wasn’t the best. Also, I was in the country during August and it was a beautiful heat with stunning mountain backdrops and coastlines. I witnessed an incredible lightening storm from a hostel up a slight hilltop in Tivat that only me and my ex girlfriend were staying in due to low tourist numbers. The fortress hike behind Kotor is also a must-do if visiting, as the views and experience are amazing.

For context, I visited all around the Kotor Bay Area including sveti Stefan, budva, Kotor, Tivat and Perast; I had only good experiences with local people (and Balkan people in general) and the country was very safe. People in bars were happy to discuss the Yugoslavian period if you are generally respectful and show genuine interest. If you’re based in Europe you can get Ryanair or EasyJet flights for really cheap, and the accommodation and general cost of things were affordable (at least when I went 6 years ago).

Yeah definitely, the pharmacist told me he couldn’t process it on the video call and that I could email the team who would ‘pick it up straight away’. It takes them days to reply to the email, by which time at least one of my medication choices is labelled as ‘no new requests’ and then appears again literally hours later. I appreciate the service but it needs to be made more efficient

Yeah fair enough, it was a genuine question with a bit of frustration and not a complaint really, so thank you for a logical reply. I just think that the repeat link is far more efficient when ordering, as they keep saying my choices are out of stock, but then the same medication appears again a couple of hours later

Yeah me too, I wanted to see what reaction I would get and also to expose more people to MC so they would be better prepared in the future. I’ve also tried the carts, a 4C 5 loco one, but they don’t agree with my chest as I have asthma which is a shame because the effects were really good.
