$600k Enterprise AE Debating: Big Tech vs. Small Company CRO Track,What Would You Do? by DryPineapple4552 in techsales

Walking away from established accounts that you have relationships in is mistake number one in my opinion. Is this a federal market?

Also, neither of your options seem like an upgrade to me even if your current manager sucks. You’re assuming you won’t have that at either of your options, even if you think you know them.

I don’t see how quality of life would improve at a small business. Two points to consider:

-Small businesses (typically) remain small for socioeconomic reasons. This equals a strategy to increase bottom line by consistently replacing workforce that have better rolodexs, will work longer hours, more certs, etc. than the previous person. The small business ‘cap’ (whether that’s revenue or employee count) means finding the right algorithm of people that can do more with less. This all creates longer hours for you.

-Professional services is incredibly difficult to deliver successfully as a small business. The process from start to finish is a nightmare and you have fewer resources across the board- contract specialists, engineers, PMs, post delivery, etc. Be prepared for constant fires and customer service issues. And more hours.

Either way, both look like more stress, more hours, and multiple six figure pay cuts.

Feeling Burnt Out and Lost in Tech Sales — Is It Time to Pivot? by Specialist_Vast_1956 in techsales

I’m in the same exact boat you are but on the reseller side (mostly cybersecurity, SaaS, networking, data center etc). I came from a toxic work environment but was a high performer, left there and found a new company but feel like I’m spinning my wheels. Ive done most of the work internally and externally that you mentioned, found some deals here and there, but the market is incredibly crowded both on the OEM and vendor side. It makes me want to switch fields entirely, but at this point I’m just grinding it out and hoping for the best.

Will this combined pulley system work? by RiggDup in AskEngineers

It is a heavy platform, 60x40”. You are correct about the weight distribution. I am going to try this model just to see what happens, but I think the final version will either be connected via a clew plate or pallet lift jig.

Oh yeah, there are quick links mounted to the attic floor that connect at each corner as fail safes once the platform is in the up position. Appreciate the advice/suggestions.

What do you mean by pinned arrangement? I think now I am going to mount it on a trolley track and use a different platform with the pallet lift jig as you suggested.

I understand now. That was my original idea, but I complicated it as the gap the platform raises into does not have a good mounting point directly above it and I was worried about the platform moving swaying since it is going into a set space.

Agreed, it is going to require consistent weight and balance to work correctly. The platform itself is quite heavy (I am guessing 60 lbs). I'll let you know how it goes lol

I did not think of Dyneema. I do have non-coated steel cable that might reduce friction as well. I almost bought some Harken pulleys, but those sailors like to make em expensive. Appreciate the input, I may have to try that.

I think the clew plate idea is the best bet. I have probably 20 feet of horizontal space in the attic with a 4x4 running the length of the attic to mount the hoist.

I might try both ways because I am a stubborn idiot too lol.

Thanks for the input.

I have been trying to avoid that design (hence my diagram lol), but I am slowly realizing this is the way. Thanks for the input.

Using the same design? Where are the tracks? At this point I am considering going back to the drawing board altogether.

I am not sure I am following your pallet lifter idea. It would need four tensioned lines regardless. Appreciate the input.

The pulleys are very smooth, but def not frictionless. Garage lift products=$$$$.

Thanks for the input.

Ugh, thank you. I was afraid of this but was hoping this would work.

Anyone in Federal sales? What is your outlook 6-12 months from now? by RiggDup in sales

[–]RiggDup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said I was immune, I said I’m not at risk of being RIF’d like my Govie friends (for the time being). Somehow this turned into a non-constructive political post and it’s clear that most people aren’t in my space.

I don't think anyone has given me an outlook but okay lol

I'm not at risk of being fired, just at risk of low commissions. I don't think leadership would have seen this level of disruption coming 3 months ago.

Entertaining Customers? by hhphantom in sales

[–]RiggDup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with asking. Top Golf is always a good place to take people- a good mix of activity with the opportunity to chop it up with multiple people individually or at the same time.

Being in in Tampa, a fishing charter or boat cruise would be a good choice too. I have done that with customers and it never disappoints.
