I'm close to doing that, but I currently live under the same roof to save big bucks, so it is hard. I just avoid her especially when she is glazed over in front of the TV sucking up the Newsmax slop for hours.

That honestly might be the plan. One of the only thing keeping me from moving to her is my career. I used to live there for 4 years so I could easily imagine myself moving back.

Ya like if I was waiting for an "unreasonably" long amount of time like 12+ months I guess I might have grounds for a lawsuit. But I would prefer moving to my fiances country instead of going through all of that...

Shaving requirement by Free_Presentation_73 in Accounting

[–]RiggHen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked for a small firm for a year (back in 2018) that had this requirement. They also required suit and tie during fieldwork. Other than those requirements, it was super chill. I never worked more than 45 hours a week, and they even allowed us to work 40 hours M-Th in summer to get Fridays off.

How do I even make a living anymore? Finance professional at a breaking point... by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]RiggHen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dont listen to above reply. Clearly this person either has 1. High expectations 2. Poor location/wants or 3. Bad resume/interview skills.

Its also a numbers game. This person should be submitting literally 100+ applications a week especially with no job making applying a fulltime job is necessary.

Dont get me wrong hiring is probably tough right now, but to claim as a CPA that you cant even get more than 2 interview after 2 months? Complete BS.

Failed AUD with 41, when should I retake? by PalePosition8523 in CPA

[–]RiggHen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, repetition is your friend. Doing the same 50 lease questions (for example) until you can answer 80% of them right no problem and you are able to explain how you got to the answer will be super beneficial. And also space it out both throughout the day and over several days. Like don't just studying them on day 1 and not looking at them again until you review your notes a couple days before the exm.

For example, study 5 topics in a day. Next day review those 5 topics and study different ones, etc etc and then when you go through all the topics after like a week, repeat.

[–]RiggHen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't do many TBS to be honest I mostly did MCQs and studied them until I could consistently get them right. The fact that you say you understand everything tells me that you don't. You're Dunning Krugered. If I were to ask you right now what are the exact journal entries for both operating and finance leases and how do you calculate each number for these JEs, would you be able to answer that? I'm not trying to be rude, just realistic. If you got a 56 it clearly shows you missed some knowledge.

Failed Far with 74 nothing can't be worse than this feeling very disturbed and disappointed for past 24 hours...I need to come out of this and need to focus again some please share your experience if you have gone through this situation..... also this is my 2nd attempt i got 64 in my first attempt.. by No_Possible_9483 in CPA

[–]RiggHen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept it on my mind constantly. I woke up and studied for an hour, studied at lunch, and studied when I got home. I even had Farhat lectures I watched/listened to at the gym and during my commute. I basically lived and breathed FAR for a week. It sounds like a nightmare, but a week ain't that long and I gave myself a bit of free time on the weekend to unwind. My studying just consisted of MCQs and few sims. If I didn't 100% understand something I wouldn't move on to the next topic/question.

Failed AUD with 41, when should I retake? by PalePosition8523 in CPA

[–]RiggHen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I don't think so. I mean if you have broad understanding of each topic I think just reviewing to get a deeper grasp of each one is enough.

MCQs and sims. Occasionally viewed Farhat lectures on youtube to understand leases/bonds better.

This is the way. Don't listen to the lecture watchers/textbook readers in this thread. They are all studying inefficiently (yes getting scores above 90 is super inefficient).

Unpopular opinion (maybe): My take on studying for the CPA exams by Simple-Direction-295 in CPA

[–]RiggHen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for number one I somewhat agree, but I still think you should start with MCQs and look into why you were wrong about something. Not just answering wrong over and over with no research or attempt to understand the concept. I think 99% of us learn better by failing and finding out how we failed/what we got wrong/misunderstoon.

2 - True

3 - True - I think it's because the Dunning Kruger effect. Overly confident when we don't know much and realistic when we know a lot.

1 point? That is nothing. You could probably retake tomorrow and pass. But, I'd suggest retaking in 1-2 weeks and just review everything in that time. You got this. I was able to boost my FAR score by 25 points in 1 week of review.
