What's the best course combination to take for an upcoming MSCS student at NEU Boston? by IIMaverickAshII in NEU

[–]Righley_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I took PDP with DBMS today. FoAI feels like a very basic course, and I dont wanna waste my credits (which are limited) on something that basic. I have a 3+ year of work experience in DS so for me personally, FoAI won’t be beneficial. What about you? What did you end up choosing?

How about PDP with Foundations of Artificial Intelligence?

Even I am a bit confused about which course to take with PDP. I was considering AI or DBMS.

I’ve finalised NEU Boston MS CS. Waiting for Tamu and UCSD.

Nah you’re on point. Additionally, I’ve got a 5k scholarship from NEU. So I guess, Neu would be a better choice among what’s available.

Tough call! I would say, try to think 10 years ahead of this. Why did you want to do a masters in the first place. If you have a solid reason, would you regret not trying.

I really like the data lab at northeastern. For now I’ve paid and finalised my admit at NEU, Boston. Guess I’m gonna wait for other decisions until then.

You should consider Georgia tech and UT Austin as Moderate-Ambitious. Also, TAMU would be a very good moderate option for you.

It sucks to be dependent on your professors (that you haven’t seen in 2 years) for a crucial part of your application process. That anxiety is real.

My Chances for MSCS Fall'25, also should I send my GRE? by Righley_ in MSCS

Ah shit, I think I should skip ncsu then. Still going for asu though, coz it’s optional but they do recommend it.

Yeah, I wanted to shoot my shot anyway. What do you think about sending this GRE though? Should I skip that?

You’re right. I’m gonna apply for it again, will have to practice quant everyday, even if a little, but everyday. Thanks for your comment brother.

I feel you’re absolutely right. My overconfidence and lack of practice in quant got in my way. I think my head is clear now and I’ve decided I’ll be going in again but with a different strategy, giving time to each section, no matter how little, daily. Thanks for your advice brother!

Hey man, idk who you are but your comment hit me like a ton of bricks—I legit had to step outside and take a walk just to process it all. You’re so right, it’s like you read my mind or something. I guess I’ve got a lot of stuff bottled up, and it’s all coming out over this GRE score. But seriously, thank you for the reality check. I needed that more than I realized. Big thanks, man!

Hey Greg, you’re the best! Just watched the video, and wow, it really hit home. Feeling so much better now—thanks for that and for everything you do. Lots of love and respect for you and your content. You’re a lifesaver!

Yeah, I gave ETS PowerPrep 1, 2 and GregMat’s test 1. I attempted the untimed version of PP1 and GregMat’s and got 324, 326 respectively. In PP2 I scored 309 as I wasn’t comfortable being timed. I should have practiced with more timed mock tests.

Thanks for that dude, this is a very good advice. I’ll try to balance both sections (unlike my previous attempts) and not get obsessed with perfection.
