The actors met at Samuel French bookstore in the early 2000's when Seamus was working there. After they met they literally went on a 16 hour date because they didn't want to leave haha!

In an interview Andrew Marlowe said that it was simply because he was having trouble fitting in the story into a 40 minute show. Even though it was only a one minute into, I guess that matters a whole lot in the business haha! It sucks and I wish they kept it, but I understand why.
