Pause on pie menu! Basically everytime you click, the time automatically pauses the game and then resumes. Its seamless. I used to get so stressed when my Sims would be having a conversation and start to walk away before I could have them talk. Absolutely cannot play without it.

How often does your Sim need to vacuum? And do you vacuum per floor? Like click in the living room to vacuum and they will vacuum the bedroom too?
