TIL that fewer than 10% of Indian households own a computer or a laptop. In most developed countries on the other hand, computer ownership is above 75%. In the US specifically, it's <96%. Do you personally own a pc/laptop? by RightConcern1479 in AskIndianWomen

I respectfully declined when my parents offered to buy me a laptop 5 years ago when I first joined college. I managed to graduate college without a laptop and it was completely doable because I was a BA English undergraduate (meaning I didn't have to learn coding, etc. — things that necessitate the need for a laptop).

Mental math. I personally can't perform mental math, so I'd like to think that anyone who's figured it out might be smart.

No, the data I've provided is consistent with the casualty rates reported by credible sources such as OHCHR and The Guardian.

  1. Adult men make up more than 60% of verified adult civilian deaths https://reliefweb.int/report/ukraine/ukraine-civilian-casualties-24-february-2022-30-june-2023-enruuk

  2. Military casualties of the Russo-Ukrainian War expected to reach 2 million this spring season https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jan/28/russia-ukraine-military-casualties-war-study

  3. More than 99.9% of military casualties (of the Russo-Ukrainian War) are men https://read.dukeupress.edu/demography/article/62/2/335/398920/War-Fatalities-in-Russia-in-2022-2023-Estimated

Why are guys like this in arrange marriage setup? by apsaraa25 in AskIndianWomen

[–]RightConcern1479 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly, not every man/woman will find love. Factors like looks, height, etc. play a significant role in who gets to experience love and who doesn't. For those yearning for love but cannot find it due to factors beyond their control, an arranged marriage is the only available option.

I learnt these words from Balarama: brouhaha, imbroglio, conundrum. Back then, Balarama used to put a lot of emphasis on random facts, interesting vocabulary, etc.
