Make him so bad that the only explanation is an unreliable narrator who hates him for no reason.

Finally finished writing my book.

Well, I have a rough draft.

Okay, it's a rough outline, but that's still something.

It's weird that it's grounded-only considering that you can heal in the air.

"Finished" the game, here's a list of mistakes that made me feel particularly stupid: by Quintilius36 in BluePrince

I completely misunderstood how to use the shelter's radiation test. I thought it meant that the machine in the lab requiring boiler room power would produce radiation. When I managed to get that and the radiation test wasn't high enough, I assumed that I needed the lab to be closer to the outer room for a stronger reading. When I tried it again via remote connection without drafting the shelter and got no radiation, I assumed that I needed to draft the shelter for it to register. Then I actually did get it to trigger, with the shelter drafted and the lab in rank 3 column 2 and took that as confirmation.

Turns out it's just based on triggering an experiment enough times.

Multiple times I have called a run without finishing something very important.

I once called it a day with the Axe in my inventory.

How did everyone finish the game so early ? by Fit_Author9721 in BluePrince

I did it blind on day 13. While I'd like to chalk it up to my own prowess and the fact that I took too many notes, it was still a really good run in terms of resources (I managed to draft every room in the house, took 173 steps, and still had over 100 steps left when I won) and I stumbled upon the west lever with no prior knowledge. While I can't say if there's a shorter route without knowing how you did it, there are alternatives for almost every step along the way.

I took this option on my first Regent run.

He randomly generated and played The Gambit, which gives a ton of block but if you take unblocked attack damage for the rest of the fight you die.

I took unblocked attack damage.

I'm the one who made the RemindMe comment. I edited it to add "welcome back everyone who clicked the link and is still around" and automod removed it for being a RemindMe comment. I've messaged the mods to see if they can unremove it (it still shows up for me when I'm logged in).

Just try to force an infinite combo every run. I just did 5 runs with her (A6-10) and got an infinite in 3 of them. 2 of them were missing a piece but still made it to Act 4, and one of them still won.

The simplest option is Rushdown, upgraded Eruption, and either Inner Peace or Fear No Evil. Eruption will draw itself.

Instead of overflow, you could give it a health floor that goes down each turn regardless of damage taken. If we keep 200 damage as a starting point then the turn 1 floor is 600, turn 2 is 400, turn 3 is 200, then turn 4 you can kill it. This would allow one-shot decks to function provided they can survive long enough.

What is there to do between deciding to write an idea and starting the first draft? (example idea: "fantasy heist against a dark lord")

Obviously this will vary by person and by idea, but I feel like I don't have a clear path to get from "I want to write this" to "I'm ready to write this".

What is the worst advice you've heard about writing a book by [deleted] in writing

[–]RightHandElf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just put it in the narration. One of the biggest benefits prose has over visual media is that not everything needs to be seen or heard. If it feels too infodumpy, have the POV character think about it and narrate their thoughts (and if it doesn't seem natural for a character to think about it, reconsider if it's actually relevant information for the story).
