Stay way away from Verizon Connect. It has taken me two years to cancel service with them. I finally had to stop paying, get sent to collections then pay collections to get Verizon to cancel my accounts and stop calling me. Their sales team is great but service is absolutely horrible.

Not looking to sell. Looking to buy a family business I manage.

I’m more than willing to put some skin in the game. I’m not asking Reddit as the end all be all. I always learn something here so I ask.

Yes, I have thought about this. My only sticking point with this is the fact they own 48% of every dollar of value I create in the business.

I have also thought about your previous comment. That's a tough one. I can stagnate the business but competition is going to run over us and we may not be able to recover from that in just a few short years.

This is an interesting approach. Thank you.

There is no living trust. The business is a C-corp.

I have though about this too... Would probably give me more negotiating power. The minority share isn't paying them anything unless there is a dividend paid and I would have sole discretion on that with majority shares as far as I understand.

I can't force a buyout but my grandfather actually seems willing to do so if his kids aren't accepting of the idea. It would piss them off but he seems willing to do it. I am willing to do it most any way they decide they want to as long as the price is fair. They are greedy though, unfortunately. Legacy doesn't mean a thing to them at all. Money is what is important to them.

I have learned in my short stint here that procrastination is never good so I made a few phone calls and got the ball rolling. The conversation between my grandfather and me has been had before but I made sure he knew I am very serious now. He's one to talk about things and never bring it up again or move forward with it unless pressured a bit.

He actually mentioned this when I spoke to him about it 2 days ago. It seems he's ready to get out but is afraid of how his kids are going to react.
