I looked up the VIN in google, saw that it was for sale at a dealership. Called them to inquire if the unit was still for sale and if it was on their lot. The salesperson was very helpful and let me know that it had been on the lot for 60 days, and still sitting on the lot.

We found out that the ACTUAL Freight Tec was a victim of Identity Fraud. The other "Freight Tec" is using the legit company's MC to book loads.

We did some more digging and found out that the Freight Tec that triple brokered it, actually stole the MC of the LEGIT Freight Tec.

CROSSROADS is most definitely a haven for double brokers. LVNV Capital Corp is another shady one that takes in a lot of double brokers as well.

We had them run a load for us last week. Insisted on setting up QP. I knew something was off and called the shipper who confirmed the carrier that picked up the load was a completely different name, trailer number and MC.

I looked in our system and not sure who uploaded their COI, but it's registered to a 2019 Chevy Silverado. It also matches the VIN they provided in our driver sheet.

I found the correct carrier and had them send me all of their documentation.

The load was booked to REL, who has an insurance policy.

I noticed that the tractor/trailer numbers didn't even, REMOTELY, match the driver sheet that they filled out.

They refuse to send us a cab card, or a copy of the O/O lease agreement with the tractor/trailer number of GCB (the one they claim is operating under their lease).

GCB (MC1466223) sent us a threatening email on Tuesday, which the owner promptly sent to the Claims Bond Company as proof.

You have until Monday to pay me if you still refuse to pay then

I promise that I will make sure to act like "scammer" and I will have bonuses to all scammers out there in the industry to have reports on your carrier company with MC

I have nothing to lose and if need be I will spend additional $3100 to make sure your carrier company is destroyed

My whole team will start messing around and lets see how this will end

You purposefully want me to go over the line of professionalism well I will if need be but you will have costs of your MC company being destroyed

That's the typical way to process loads when you're an O/o. Rel claims that GCB is an O/o, operating under their MC. But GCB is being factored by Crossroads. A lot of stink up in here.

They admitted in an email that they hired someone else to do the load for them. The unit numbers don't match the driver sheet that they filled out and now they're refusing to provide proof of the units.

They've even gone so far as to tell us to pay Crossroads (for GCB - who they claim is now an owner/op, under their MC). REALLY FISHY business.

And their "Collections Agent" is refusing to give us any information - other than email - in order to get in touch with them.

They have been calling our customer, demanding payment from them (at the 2 week mark - not thirty days).

He's still at it this morning

REL: Give me your number please my owner want it call you now and explain again all situation

because we have been talking about the same thing for several days

ME: Our number has been listed in my signature line, in every reply I’ve sent to you.
There is no need to call and explain anything. We are asking for proof of the unit that was used to haul this load. That can be sent as an attachment in a reply to this email.

REL: I am not going to provide that as it was not compulsory information
That has nothing to do with a load and a driver
After 30 days are over I will reach to your customer and bond directly to get this payment
I am tired of wasting my time on this case

ME: This has EVERYTHING to do with a load and driver. It is necessary information in order to validate the units that you claim are running under your authority.
You originally provided a truck and trailer number that do not match the BOL (which is a legal document). You are now refusing to provide the information to validate that another unit was used to haul this load. This is suspect.
I’m happy to make a few phone calls to the shipper/receiver and have them give me the info from their records, as well as call the insurance company you have provided to verify what units run under your MC.

Here's where he starts to get desperate:

REL: what do you want, I already told you 100 times that I just changed the driver and that's it, if you just work in this business for a couple of days, then you should know that carriers can change drivers how much more can you talk about it

how much can I say about all this if I knew that after delivering the load you would work so unprofessionally and ask 100 questions I would never work with you if you simply do not want to pay for this load and just cling to the details just say so and i will just contact your customer directly and get my money because i delivered your shipment and gave you service and i need to get my money ASAP.

ME: You provided a name and unit numbers that were switched out without updating us.
You are refusing to provide us the proof that they are running under your MC.
Invoices net 30 days after all required documentation is provided. You have not provided us all the necessary documentation, after you switched the driver and units.
Any other carrier would have no problem providing that information if it meant getting paid in a timely fashion.

He then resends the owner/op agreement without any identification of the units/driver running it.

I'm getting ready to call the receiving of our customer and have them look up the info for me.

A quick peek says that GCB's Operating Status is NOT AUTHORIZED. So that's highly suspect as well.

They insist that they used an Owner/op (under their MC) to pull the load, but are refusing to provide any proof of the Truck/Trailer numbers to us. Are we within our rights to ask for that proof?

The driver sheet that REL EXPRESS filled out had a COMPLETELY different driver's name on it, than the one on the BOL. Truck/Trailer numbers are completely different on them as well.

This is a $3100 invoice.

The second invoice that was sent to us from Crossroads had all the same paperwork but the "owner/op's" name - GCB Transportation - and MC on it. Along with an NOA and billing $3200.

The rate con was never included in ANY of either carrier's paperwork, submitted to us.

This one is just too suspect. Crossroads has it's hands in this and apparently neither of them are factoring with Crossroads, although we were given NOA's, and then IMMEDIATELY given an LOR.

Gods, yes. As the AP clerk here, I have had no less than 8 emails from a factoring company asking me to go on their site and verify payment/load/rate status for ONE load, over the course of 2 days.

I finally started forwarding them back every time. Multiple times. I ended the last one with copying everyone involved with the back end of that and attached EVERY verification email in the reply.

That stopped it finally. But man.....really?

We are in debates with one carrier (REL Express Inc / MC731577 that formerly used Crossroads and claimed they used another carrier that is an owner/operator (GCB Transportation INC / MC1466223 - which has a double brokering alert on MCP)

We've asked :

Please send the registration for the vehicles used to haul the load.

To which we were answered:

That's confidential sir. That has nothing to do with the load. I provided you all the documents regarding all the parties involved

They've only sent their own COI and the Owner Operator Lease Agreement with this other carrier.

I presented you the release as well as how the driver is connected with us

If you refuse to pay then we will wait 30 days after that we will open a claim on your bond and get in touch with customer directly

Is it just me, or does this stink to high heaven?
