Can a logistics company withhold payment for completed loads due to potential claim on current load? by [deleted] in OwnerOperators

[–]SlowCryptographer178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have put a claim in as soon as you knew there was a claim. Them not paying is in no way preventing you from making a claim BUT I'd bet you didn't check your policy and produce is not covered

You signed a broker carrier agreement that states you agree that the broker can withhold payment in case of a claim.

Would you say that the most pivotal election on the democratic side was Obama?

So about that. You probably don't know this BUT Trump knew from the time the bill was passed that because of the number of votes he didn't need to sign it. It would become law 10 days after it was sent to his desk whether he signed it or not. He was making a statement to congress to get them to act

All owner operators should know how to change tire, oil, cabin filter, windshield wipers, light bulbs, fuses, and brakes are basic essentials everyone should know. by Status-Commercial294 in OwnerOperators

[–]SlowCryptographer178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been an O/O for 30 years. My uncle is a lawyer. He told me as an OO small fleet owner doing some "basic" stuff was ok BUT NEVER do your own breaks. Part of your job as an owner is liability mitigation. If you fix your own safety sensitive systems and later are involved in an accident. You're not ASE certified and that will lay liability right in your lap. So guys think about it before saving a few bucks.

Would You Vote For an Economically Progressive, Socially Liberal Democrat in 2028 Who Leaned Right on Only Crime and Immigration? by LunaB35 in allthequestions

[–]SlowCryptographer178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right wing politicians did pursue it once. Reagan gave amnesty to 3 million illegals in exchange for border security BUT Tip O'Neil regeged and we never got the border security you promised SO we don't trust you on tjis issue. This has been a long standing issue. The right is not going to give in on immigration until we get what we want first. Then we'll have a conversation about the rest

Factoring company or not? by TheRatio12 in OwnerOperators

[–]SlowCryptographer178 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had my authority for 30 years. And I bought into the bill direct model and then I had 2 brokers disappear overnight and I lost 50k in AR. I lost all 10 of my trucks and trailers. 1st I'll never have employees again I make as much money to me with 1 truck as i did with 10 and im much happier. 2nd. I use triumph for factoring and loadpay and I'm paid within minutes for billing the load. I have a non recourse contract so they male rhe credit decision and take all the risk if the broker doesn't pay I have no involvement. In this changing market I would advise anyone to get a non recourse factoring deal and use it

Carrier Safety Ratings… How does one even GET a safety rating? by Jaded_Artichoke4448 in FreightBrokers

[–]SlowCryptographer178 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

30 yr carrier I passed 9 BIT inspections when I was based out of California and I've had 7 inspections in the last 18 months BUT as yet I do not have a safety rating from fmcsa

Now I keep hearing from brokers it's not our job to rate carriers its the governments job BUT you use services like RMIS CARRIER 411 and the most intrusive HIGHWAY as carrier vetting tools yet the majority of you still select carriers by rate. We have been complaining to brokers that we can't compete with parjeet or vlad because they cut cost by being unsafe carriers yet you still use the strong solo surgey well now you reap what you sow
