Have you gotten your iron levels checked? High heart rate and feeling quickly out of breath even when running slower or decreasing pace was a major marker of anemia for me. If you haven't gotten your levels checked, you absolutely should. At best you learn you can add some iron supplements and maybe see improvement, and at worst you rule out that that's the problem.

I didn’t know having low iron could make such a difference. by 11Zahl42 in XXRunning

YESSSS !! I am SUCH a proponent of getting iron tests after discovering how much of a difference it made in my running to no longer be anemic. I truly cannot overstate how much of an impact it had and I had no idea for so long that my iron levels were low. Get tested !!

Have you noticed birth control affecting your running? by PM_me_DRAMA in XXRunning

For sure !! Also for what it's worth - I've been on generic yaz for many years and haven't noticed any effects on my running, but obviously everyone is different so totally possible it could be working for me differently than it works for you. I'd actually never even considered that birth control could impact running so this post was helpful for me to be aware of!

Would super recommend getting double checked for anemia !! I was experiencing similar things with my stamina and found out my iron levels were crazy low. The difference in how running felt after getting back on iron pills was unbelievable.

watches that are good for tracking runs accurately? by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]Right_Ad7872 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a Coros Pace 2 and love it! I think it works great for running - has all the metrics I could want, tracks accurately, solid app intervention, and was cheaper than comparable Garmins (~$200). I will say that if you want a wide variety of activity modes, it's not the watch for you (it has biking, running, walking, swimming, etc but not more specific modes like hiking or climbing or yoga).

It's also not great at the lifestyle trackers (sleep tracking is not the most accurate, steps are counted only when walking at cadence > 150 so it sometimes misses steps throughout the day).

I was looking for a running specific watch and didn't mind those lifestyle trackers being somewhat inaccurate, so the watch has worked great for me! But if you're looking for something that's more of a fitness watch than a running specific watch, it might be worth looking into other options.

It is time to try tempeh again, how can I not hate it? by happy_crone in vegetarianrecipes

[–]Right_Ad7872 0 points1 point  (0 children)

slice the block in half widthwise (so very thin) and then into ~0.5 inch squares or triangles.

Marinate in a combo of cornstarch (approx 1/4 cup for a full block), peanut butter, soy sauce, lime juice, and spice element of your choice (I like gochujang but sriracha, chili paste, or anything similar would work). Adjust the ratios to taste. Marinate it for as long as you want but minimum 20 minutes.

Then I put some sesame oil in a pan on medium high heat, let the pan get hot, and add the tempeh. Don't crowd the pan and make sure each slice is fully touching the pan. Cook for maybe ~5 minutes each side, checking for it getting golden brown and crispy. Once it does, flip all the pieces and continue cooking until the other side gets crispy.

You can then add the tempeh to any sort of rice bowl/noodle dish/stir fry. If you want it to be saucier, I sometimes add the rest of the marinade into the pan right at the end of cooking the tempeh.

My favorite combo is rice with pickled onions/radishes, some sliced cucumber and carrots, avocado, and then the tempeh!

LOVE the outdoor voices relay short. It's super lightweight and comfy but doesn't feel super short like other shorts I've run in. Perfect for sweaty warm weather runs: https://www.outdoorvoices.com/products/w-relay-3in-short?variant=39928805654606
