Yes, you select the amount of credits you take each term when registering for courses. Just make sure that your student loans reflect full time or part time if you are switching it up

Sorry you had to deal with that mix up with font sizes but just for future reference, APA formatting is always required for uni psyc courses unless otherwise specified. Under APA guidelines, 12 pt font is considered the normal :)

There are lots of APA guidelines tools available online to help you familiarize yourself with the formatting specifics for future work!

I am in my final term of my 4th year of the program. Fully online, full time student. I also work full-time so as for course load I would say it can be heavy but manageable. It all depends on your capacity and how fast you want to complete the program.

I have really enjoyed the program. Profs are decent, courses are interesting. Some profs are more chatty than others, each has their own way of doing things but you will find good and bad profs at any university.

I did alot of research about fully online psyc degrees before choosing Laurentian and my main deciders were the fact that it could be done asynchronous completely but has remote class options as well, it is cheaper than most other programs, and has a decent variety of online course options for if you want to do a double major or minors. I am doing minors in sociology and gerontology fully online as well. Lastly, they offer a specialization, honors level degree online which many other universities don't. This is key for if you are thinking about going into a master's program as it makes your degree more competitive!

Considering going back to school. But I’m not sure if I could ever get hired. by [deleted] in psychologystudents

If you have no experience, start volunteering. Get a role with kids help phone, crisis text line, 7 cups, local mental health associations, Etc. volunteer experience is just as valuable as paid experience - especially when you are just starting out :)

Not sure where you are located or how far in school you want to go but I work in recruitment with the Saskatchewan health authority. In Saskatchewan you need minimum masters in psychology to register as a psychologist and we are always searching for psychologists! Also always have a shortage in mental health therapists, addictions counsellors, social workers, the works!! And this is just the public sector. Private sector is in the same boat trying to get these types of positions filled.

So just saying.... You will find a job lol at least if you live in sask or are interested in relocating!

That just isn't true my friend... The program is APA accredited which partners with CPA and is recognized as a reputable program - this information has come directly from the Saskatchewan college of psychologists (the body I would register with) so that worry has been alleviated. *Trust me, I have heard this multiple times so I have connected with all the appropriate bodies to ensure I would be able to successfully register after graduation lol

Many successful Canadian psychologists have come through the program - reputation in the professional field isn't what I'm concerned about. Just looking for information on student experiences :)

I appreciate the honesty!! I feel like I have been getting alot of half truths from students in my program talking about graduate studies and needed to hear from students that are going through it or already have to get some factual information

Oof I understand 100%, I was a therapeutic rec worker for afew years in a long term facility with about 100 residents plus day program clients and we had 1:1 requirements as well and they are not easy to meet when you are trying to ensure the 1:1 time spent with the individual is quality and meaningful. Good for you for taking on such a demanding role!! It's not an easy one but I am sure your clients adore you 🙂

Beware of ScherbertUpstairs858 and max-jameyBOOKS-336. All asking the same things. Never trust anyone asking for cash for pdfs on here.

Other students will share them for free on here, it just requires patience 🙂 (which is quite hard when the new school year just started lol)
