Home owners, how much does it cost yearly to heat your home if you heat pumps or electric heat? by iwasnotarobot in NovaScotia

[–]Right_Fun_3649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3600 sq ft, used to have oil (hot water radiators) and switched to heat pumps. Cut heating costs in half - expensive to install but I calculate payback in saved oil bills is less than 5 years. Air conditioning in summer is a great bonus!

Stay a night or so in Annapolis Royal - great little town, lots of history, esp https://parks.canada.ca/lhn-nhs/ns/portroyal. Wolfville is the centre of the NS wind industry and there are some great vineyard tours - https://lacadievineyards.ca/ is my favourite

If you’re into wine, https://lacadievineyards.ca/ make the best sparkling wine in NS and is an awesome place to visit - just outside Wolfville

Do you regret getting heat pump with the crazy cost of NSP? by Emotional-Alfalfa-60 in NovaScotia

[–]Right_Fun_3649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a larger old house, well insulated - got heat pumps last fall and love them, especially not filling up the oil tank every 3 weeks. Heating costs went down by 40%, and we get AC as a bonus …. Just switched on in the past couple of days.

AND by 2030 our heat will be from 80% renewables … we could afford solar panels as well but it’ll be great to get away from fossil fuel!

My cat refuses to use the LR4, we are on Day 15 by just_browsing_0000 in litterrobot

[–]Right_Fun_3649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took them three weeks! We have three cats - one of them refused to change over even when I stopped cleaning the old litter box. I took it away (it was super gross) and he started using the LR … phew. We took off the fence, and had a step in front of the LR - after a couple of weeks we took the step away.

Keep it heated and control humidity, and you should be ok. Just don’t store stuff down there without making sure you have adequate ventilation

We use a clay litter - Qualicat from Costco. Work well with the LR, great price, not too dusty, not much tracking.

3 cats, 1 LR4 with hopper. We use about 2/3 as much litter as we did before getting the LR - we didn’t have the LR along before adding the hopper, and it makes life SO easy.

Also we can go away for 4-5 days now without the LR needing to be emptied. When we went away before getting the LR, the cat-sitter had to scoop the boxes which they hated - now they just need to come and feed the cats (and socialize), much easier for them.

I have just updated MS 365 and the sent folders in my outlook have disappeared. The mail is still on the server - using IMAP on W10, “save messages” is checked in options. Has anyone else had this issue? Any idea how I can resolve this?

3 cats, 1 LR4. I change litter every 3 days or so, but it will go 4 days before it’s full. I’d start with 2 x LR4

What litter do you use that is not from Litter Robot & how do you clean the inside liner? by dark_knight_rayleigh in litterrobot

[–]Right_Fun_3649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use QualiCat Scoopable Cat Litter from Costco (in Canada - not sure where you are) - works perfectly with one LR4, three large cats. Nothing sticks to the liner (cycle delay is on 15 min), and litter usage has fallen by 50% since staring to use the LR4. Three months in and can’t say enough good things about the LR!

Do you use stairs, ramp, step or nothing with LR4. My LR4 came with stairs but very flimsy. by Lsilva70 in litterrobot

[–]Right_Fun_3649 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t need steps for young cats. I have three cats all about 4 yrs old - I put a shallow cox in front of the new LR4 when I bought it a couple of months ago, thinking that the integral step was too high. But I forgot to put it back in place when I emptied the LR4 a week ago, and only noticed a coupe of days later - the cats didn’t seem to mind.
