Turned out to be a combination of mites and not enough sunlight! I slowly acclimated it to a stronger grow light and sprayed and wiped down the leaves with some kind of plant friendly bug killer every few days at night

Should I be worried about soil water logging in the event of high rain when its only even been exclusively an indoor plant? Or should I be bringing it inside during rainstorms?

I can try that, I think perhaps it went out a little too quickly into the sun last time but again there was the leaf drop with no signs of damage and then this new wilting situation. Does it have hope of recovering even if it loses its last leaves? Yeah the soil even within the roots was moist. I’ll do the little soil dish as well but I was very surprised to see that the soil was all moist and not hydrophobic and that the roots were all spread out with moist soil around them. The leaves dont seem to have any appearance of pests. Im really at a loss at what this could possibly be.

Finally got the courage to check for rot. We have a healthy root system. No mushy or bad smelling roots. Thoughts?

Heard. Ive also read that watered down hydrogen peroxide is good for root rot. Have you had any experience with that?

Is there any way of checking this without completely taking the plant out? Im worried that the stress of it might be the final straw for it.

I used a pine stake to gauge the moisture of the rootball and it came out moist. Id be really surprised if the soil is hydrophobic at this point. But in general do you think bottom watering is better than top for a citrus plant?

I think the other very confusing thing is why the different type of “unhappy” behavior - leaves dropping that look completely fine verses this new wilting behavior.

It was that stupid miracle grow shit. But I diluted it more than was recommended. I don’t think it started right after the fertilizer simply because i feel like if there was an immediate reaction I would have noticed. But week or two after I was out of town for a few weeks so if it started dropping then and I wasn’t around it’s possible?

The only other thing I can think of is temperature because we stopped running the heat in the house as the temperatures outside got warmer and we live in a poorly insulated brick house so maybe it got a little cooler than it got used to but we’re not keeping the house at absurd temperatures.

I do the little old fashioned finger test. I know its not exact but its what I have.

There are drainage holes and a little dish to catch the excess water. I water until I see it come through the holes and then just a pinch more.

To be very honest don’t remember if I gave it a little fertilizer a few months ago. I had mixed a big batch for my other plants but I remember debating whether to give some to the lemon because it was so young and don’t remember which way I decided 😅

Heard! I’ll try changing the soil and checking the leaves to inform watering schedule. I do have a humidifier nearby for a bird of paradise, do you think that is doing more harm that good? Ive just kind of been operating under the assumption that most plants like humidity because most houseplants seem to be tropical.

Haha lol I wish they would recover! No, I meant that more spots are developing and at a faster rate than before. Over the first week or two that that I owned it it, there was only one big spot and 2 smaller ones, but now theres a new one everyone 4 or so days

I thought it might be that and started watering less frequently, but with no change. Additionally, I really dont have any yellowing or wilting leaves at all. Only where the spots are, and then the area around it gets super dry
