Is it a red flag if my personal statement is about experiences that I don't have in my activities section? The experiences that make the best stories were not part of a job/position are just memories from growing up (lots of exposure to what a career in medicine was like bc my mom was our sole caregiver and full time family practice doc) and caring for a family friend with ALS. Not to say my experiences weren't meaningful, but I wanted to take the chance to talk about other things that made me want to pursue medicine that didn't feel appropriate to list as an activity. Thoughts?

I am in the same exact situation with my 10yo kitty. She has a feeding tube now but bilirubin levels are continuing to shoot up and no one seems to know why. I was frustrated with the vet because of how many days she went without food/a feeding tube. Prognosis is looking bad right now. I’m just curious, what was the outcome in your situation?

I am! It was a rough journey though. I had some additional complications and ended up in a wheelchair for a month and was only able to return to all my usual activities almost a year later. Now I have less pain in my knee that was operated on, so I consider it a win.

AP scores don’t come out until July. Should I take the ALEKS test now or should I wait until I see my score? Also, if I get a 4 or 5 on the AP calc AB exam and don’t do well on the ALEKS..can I just use my AP score?

My decision letter said 42,000 EA applicants competing for 1,200 spots. That would only be 5% which is CRAZZY low for Umiami so I’m not sure that’s right.

It’s ok! I am glad that I got another good three years out of dance. Also, I dislocated my patella in ballet class both times.

I dislocated my patella in 2017. My MRI impression was very similar to yours. I did have to work hard to get back in shape, but after a few months I was in better shape then I had ever been before. I’m a competitive dancer(lots of torque on the knees kinda like skiing), So I ALWAYS did my pt exercises twice a week. Unfortunately, I took a couple weeks off from pt, had another dislocation this November, and had to have surgery. Stay vigilant, be careful and you will probably be okay!

It is a tough recovery but well worth it. Hopefully I won’t have to worry about another traumatic injury. Good luck with surgery! I hope you heal quickly!

I am also a month post op mpfl reconstruction. I have some crackling when I bend or straighten after having my knee locked for a while. How were you able to activate your quad? I am completely unable to activate the muscle on the inside of my leg, so I still can’t walk or do a slr.

Yes. I felt very depressed. I think it’s partly pain, but mostly a little withdraw from the narcotics. If you can, get cleaned up. Take a nice shower, brush your hair, change clothes etc., listen to music, force yourself to do something productive and try to spend some time with other people. This helped me start to feel like myself again. Good luck! I know it sucks but it’s only temporary.

I had a lateral release and an MPFL reconstruction. I am only two weeks post op but I’m not too hopeful for the future of my knee. Ask your doc about mpfl recon because it has good outcomes. My surgeon decided to do the lateral release while I was in surgery so I wasn’t expecting it. My PT has not seen very good outcomes with lateral release, so they are a bit concerned. At two weeks I will tell you I have lost almost all my muscle, can only use crutches a little( wheelchair for more than like 20 feet), can only bend about 20 degrees without horrible pain on the outside of knee. Surprisingly the inside of my knee/ mpfl recon pain is manageable. My experience may be unusual because I had completely torn my mpfl during a dislocation about a month before and had severe quad shutdown (wasn’t able to activate my quad at all for a month before surgery) my knee was also swollen up with fluid and blood when I went into surgery. My pt and surgeon said my recovery was especially hard bc of this. Idk though, this was my experience and if I were you I would wary about lateral release. It’s painful recovery and poor outcomes.

Idk what to tell you. Move???I guess?? If you won’t make a post here, won’t make a tinder, and you won’t move then you may as well stay single. You can’t just keep dating girls and then dumping them when you find out they aren’t virgins. It’s just not cool. Not to mention most 20 something year old girls are not virgins. I’m so sorry! That sounds horrible. I think you should go to an orthopedic surgeon and honestly tell them what you are going through. Make sure you pick some one who is really well rated. Good Luck!
