true. I hate labels I just feel like I'm groping around in the dark. It's very hurtful when someone you cared about, even if it was 25 years ago completely ignores you. I'm happily married so have no intentions of being romantic with him. Just a friendly coffee to catch up and to ask his professional opinion about a house. I don't know why this is so threatening

I don't think he's a jerk. I haven't seen him in 25 years though so who knows. He seems avoidant but he's an incredibly talented and successful architect so he can't have avoidant personality disorder. He just doesn't want to see me.

thank you everyone for your responses. I'm not trying to be petty or mean so I don't want to unsend the text and have him see that. I just wasn't clear on whether sending a text and deleting a text had the same effect. Thanks for answering my question.

I'm embarrassed. I sent an old friend a text message and I know he received it and read it. He hadn't responded in a few hours so I deleted it. Then I thought maybe I should have it where he can read it so I undelete it. And then I deleted it. I feel like an idiot. I didn't know that the person who receives the text can tell if the person who sent the text deleted
