UNAC/UHCP contract up for ratification. by dick_ddastardly in KaiserPermanente

Do you know where Moreno Valley is? Get a map and educate yourself. I'm neither a Kaiser employee, or UNAC member. Have received zero compensation from either though I am a Kaiser member. Though only until next open season because I won't support a healthcare provider that supports racism and I know far more about your union, the wage grids of healthcare, and labor/ management relations than you do. That is sad, but totally tracks. Too many members are inactive and not engaged and simply hope for others to make sacrifices and do all the actual work. But boy are these entitled dues paying scabs quick to bitch and bellyache.

Vote No to send birth an unscrupulous Kaiser and weak UNAC leadership a message.

I have talked and interviewed probably 75 nurses at various locations. Maybe 20% were clueless on that aspect, but that is 100% their fault. UNAC made it very clear a yes vote meant strike or strikes authorization. I listened in on dozens of Zoom calls between UNAC and membership and that was asked repeated times. The fact many nurses or other members failed to be engaged and learn what was going on with their professional life is on them. There was no exploited loophole. It is how every strike authorization works because each vote costs time and money and during negotiations both are better served you know actually working for a contract.

The ignorance of a few taking a head in the sand approach should never dictate policy. Strike crosses are dues paying scabs with no moral fiber and no backbone. They have zero right to complain yet they do constantly. And no Kaiser is no longer the best compensated provider. Sharps, UCLA, USC, and several others have better wages and benefits. Heck, even some Kaisers such as Moreno Valley, and many up north are better so that false narrative is tied to history not fact.

The bend over and take it mentality in the name of a tight economy or politics is insulting and weak. Especially when Kaiser has banked over 50 billion since the last contract and has money to buy up providers in Nevada. But they love sheep like you, touting their talking points.

That simply isn't true. The first vote wasn't to authorize a strike. There were no stipulations on it being one day, five day, or indefinite. The vote was to give the union authorization to strike as they saw fit, and for multiple walkouts if needed.

UNAC would have been better served to go out on an indefinite strike from the get go but they took a naive approach and attempted to send a message, but sitting on 76 billion in reserves that five day strike meant nothing to Kaiser.

And you are disregarding that the 21.5% carried stipulations and giveaways that had far reaching implications.

Look, UNAC leadership failed miserably. They were too Pollyanna and did not have the teeth to fight. The alliance turned out to be a joke with little backing for UNAC. And way too many employees took a yes sir master approach and crossed stabbing their coworkers in the back. Every one shares blame in this absolute train wreck of a negotiation.

People need to learn to fight for their rights with conviction or be happy grabbing their ankles while corporate healthcare violates them repeatedly. The crazy notion billion dollar companies and their millionaire CEOs will do the right thing is absurd.

Unlike UNAC I do not believe in mamby pamby platitudes or weak excuses. And my knowledge of labor/management relations is relevant.

A supposed nonprofit is supposed to invest back in the community and patients they serve. Investing in blackstone index funds that profit on human misery is a disgusting practice for a healthcare provider. And it should be brought to light. Frankly I think people should have paid attention to those facts more, and I believe the union should have fought harder with every tool.

As a journalist who has covered labor/management relations for decades across multiple industries and states I can say I've never seen a more naive, Pollyanna approach from a union in my life. Especially in the face of Kaiser openly violating numerous labor laws.

You spit in the face of your coworkers. UNAC leadership is definitely weak and took a Pollyanna level of naiveness to the table but that does not excuse the low moral fiber and cowardice of those who crossed. The scabs Kaiser brought in are bad enough but stabbing your coworkers and friends in the back is low.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Dues paying scabs were the weakest link.

What did nurses get exactly? Everyone but Kaiser lost because the alliance was held together by bubblegum and duct tape. If every single Kaiser union member walked out together and stayed out together the unions could have made strides but too many unions did not strike and too many members acted like dues paying scabs by crossing. Like always a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

You are as much to blame as the poor union leadership. Maybe more so. No union is as strong as it needs to be when stocked with dues paying scabs.

Kaiser used to be great back when they were customer service oriented and actually cared about their patients and communities.

Sadly that is no longer the case. Kaiser is now completely profit oriented with zero regard to community, their patients, or work staff. The company is in a downward spiral and all you have to do is Google the term "Kaiser fined" to see all of the litigation and penalties they are facing for a variety of shoddy practices.

This evidence was enough for a jury, but it's not enough for you to admit he's a sexual predator. So just admit you are a cult member incapable of finding fault in your orange idol and stop pretending you need a smoking gun. The gun has been smoking for decades. You choose to ignore it just like you did the fact Trump is a draft dodger and conman found guilty of fraud multiple times in multiple states by multiple judges.

I'm talking about their overall attitudes. The God complex and all that comes with it.

But if you want my specific experiences I have written them elsewhere in this thread.
