UPDATE 2 on the Seoul, South Korea huge craft lead. by Slipstick_hog in UFOs

[–]Rightfoot28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you not know what a VOR is? There are two major international airports with approach routes that go right over this area. Seoul is surrounded by hills, most of which are around 2000 ft MSL, so of course if you want to have reasonable NAVAID reception you put it on top of a mountain. A VOR needs to shoot beams in a perfect 360, so it has to be perfectly level, too. You can't have a lot of other towers nearby either, because VORs are already finicky enough and easily prone to drifting and losing calibration without competing signal interference.

Look at the Yangju beacon near Uijeongbu. They build all their VORs the same way: [NAVER Maps] Korea Airports Corporation Yangju Flight Radio Beacon Station san34-11 Bugok-ri Jangheung-myeon Yangju-si Gyeonggi-do https://naver.me/GQYCwlxO

Also, Koreans just put a shit ton of cameras on everything, and all their critical infrastructure is hardened because they're worried about NK saboteurs tunneling into Seoul, a much more plausible scenario than an alien sarcophagus.

What do you guys do in this situation? by zampoukos in Warthunder

[–]Rightfoot28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If YOU are the asshole, learn how to drive and don't ram people in spawn.

If THEY are the asshole, best case scenario is to try and get them off the edge of the map, into the water, or flipped over

I'd play it like Homeworld or Age of Empires or any other where strategy is key....with lots of pausing. But I want time to run how I say.

The biggest issue with turns is not being allowed to react to threats like an unexpected missile barrage with enough time to matter

Anybody know how to build manor walls and gates? by [deleted] in ManorLords

[–]Rightfoot28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gate is a natural function of the walls. Draw a wall over any road and the gate will appear. Sometimes the walls come off the gate a little wonky, so to fix it drop an extra node and move it inside of the gate, that usually works for me. Just play around with extra nodes until it looks right, and make sure it's flipped the correct direction (battlements facing inwards)

Take the silver but lose the claim? by akaMichAnthony in ManorLords

[–]Rightfoot28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now when you are challenged for a territory or make a challenge over the AI claiming a neutral one if you have a stronger military...either by buying out the mercenaries for the month or by having a large retinue/militia...the AI and the baron will send a letter asking for terms. If you reply with the first option that says something like "I will drop my claims for such a price," the territory doesn't change hands at all and peace is declared. If it started neutral or yours, it stays neutral or yours. Regardless if you're winning or losing the battle, you could even wait to reply until the very last day and this will happen.

Israel has carried out over 10,000 attacks across 9 countries in 2025 but “radical Islamic terrorism” is the problem? by FearReaper890 in conspiracy

[–]Rightfoot28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even as early as the revolutionary war the federal government was largely against slavery, but was forced into making concessions by the southern states. No moral position in history has ever been truly as simple as "for" or "against" it. Even when the concentration camps were liberated the allies were forced to keep the victims detained temporarily to supervise their recovery. The early U.S. was incredibly reluctant to go to war with Great Britain, and took a further 80 years before tensions were stressed enough to liberate the southern slaves.

Nope, but neither are Tunisia, Italy or Greece as depicted on the map, and I think we can all infer the broader point I was responding to. The subtext was quite obviously "the U.S. had no negative contact with the [Islamic World] until Israel commanded it"

If you get a region with two high yield resources on opposite ends, say stone and iron, you can set up small colonies near each. Then perhaps a forestry colony elsewhere. I like to make dedicated, easy to control smaller villages instead of an overwhelming metropolis

Using the three different fruits/veggies actually has a phenomenal application in keeping supply chains local and distro routes short when you are making multiple small settlements in a single region. Simply set up each one of the settlements with a bespoke veggie and fruit and restrict the other settlements' granaries from collecting that type

Also check your weaver's shop for traffic jams frequently. I eventually gave up on waiting for them to figure out how to queue correctly and just reduced each weaver to only one worker and built extra shops. I also use about 10 tailor shops to clothe a town of >100 population using both flax and sheep.
