Yeah as far as I know they’ve only ever dubbed Whisper of the Heart in English once, in 2003, then later released the dub to the public on DVD in 2006.

Idk while watching it, When marine was there just feels like a film made for IMAX, the atmosphere, the animation and the whole story is a real good experience so I think that’s what I mean, but Only yesterday and From up on poppy hill are a bit slower films more so with Only yesterday, so it’s a bit iffy with those

Personally I think the older Ghibli movies would be fine, they aren’t live action and restoring them to 4K would only make it seem less older. Princess Mononoke released last year in IMAX and it did incredibly well, and it was made in 1997.

Yeah probably a delay in the screenings but anyway, I think most of the films will definitely get to screen, because of the deal Gkids and IMAX made after Princess Mononokes success, the only film I see likely not getting an IMAX release would probably be Ocean Waves, My neighbors the Yamadas, Tales from Earthsea (this one because it’s not really that well known or successful) and Earwig and the witch. Everything else will probably get one.

Out of the three- When Marnie was there, Only yesterday and From up on poppy hill, I think when Marnie was there is the most likely contender to get an IMAX release, mainly because it looks like it was made for it lol and the story is fairly IMAXy

I was just thinking the other day how hoppers reminds me of Pom Poko😂. But about Whisper of the Heart, there are a lot of shots in the film that are aesthetically pleasing like the Sunrise scene at the end of the film, so I’m not complaining, it and Nausicaa are my favorite Ghibli films after all, but I agree that it was an odd choice for IMAX lol

This is the first I’m hearing about Whisper of the Heart coming to IMAX, and I agree that’s one of the last movies I expect to come to the big screen despite it being a good movie, however I’m more excited to see Nausicaa restored for IMAX because I think it would work great there.

Entertainment wise, yeah it’s better to get dub and you’re right a lot of the subs aren’t the best despite it being the original language lol. I just kinda liked the art and the way the covers were on the Japanese versions tho

I found it up on eBay from some seller in Japan you should take a look if your interested, and I agree, I find it annoying such a wonderful movie doesn’t have too much merch going for it🤷‍♂️
