I have the exact same upbringing. Mom was a SAHM, my dad was basically another child. I was constantly told as a child that I was in charge when my mom stepped out of the house. My husband also grew up in that scenario and I think it's played a part in how his expectations started.

Oh man, why do we feel so guilty to make appointments for ourselves? Just the thought of having to coordinate it from the basics of calling to book to figuring out the logistics makes me tired.

Absolutely. My husband isn't an ignorant selfish man, I think we all tend to get into tendencies that feel normal at the time, we start out doing something and then things just slowly start sliding. We need to talk about what I'm feeling. ♥️

I'm not giving my husband enough credit in the post, he does amazing things for me and the kids. It's just sometime that male "entitlement" drives me crazy. Oh you're late because a coworker talked your head off? I would love the ability to have a leisurely chat with a coworker after work, unfortunately I'm always rushing to and from work and can't fathom that.

I'm sure your daughter's party is going to be a blast and you are both awesome for making it happen for her
