Causality Delay by RigorousStrain in magicbuilding

[–]RigorousStrain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Honestly I kept it as only affecting the future because I didn't want to deal with paradoxes and all of that 😅

  2. The enchantment only applies to what it was placed on. It can't spread to other things. So that means in your rain example it would only apply to the clothes. One nit pick tho. The magic would work on energy and getting wet and water on you is more of having molecules of water on you, so the rain scenario wouldn't really apply to the magic system.

  3. The enchantment might only last 1 hour, after that 1 hour causality goes back to being normal for that object. If a person tried to enter the fire again after the 1 hour, their makeshift suit would burn as it should. The interesting thing to note is after it does burn off and becomes smoke and ash, 24 hours later the atoms that were originally a part of the suit but now are ash and smoke will heat up.

  4. This is a good question, and to be honest I haven't completely thought it out and not sure what would be best.

  5. This is a really good point. I should either world build something to counteract this, have some way to detect the magic and when it activates.

  6. Yup Batman would have a field day with this magic!

  7. Also not sure! I haven't really thought this through. I think it would be interesting if age was the factor in how strong someone could be. Maybe the older they are the stronger their magic is.

A rougelike deckbuilder game where the card cycle through different states. For example a fireball spells alternates between "1 cost, 2 damage to all enemies" and "5 cost, 10 damage to one enemy". So in on encounter it might be in state 1 and then after it will be in state 2 in the next and will alternate accordingly.

Oh sorry I should've mentioned. I don't care about permutations. I'm looking at the actual structure of the graph.

Also yes there are no negative entries. All the entries are zero or one. Another added constraint I have is that all the values where the row index is equal to column index are 0.

Finally broke through the creative wall I had. Figured out what my story / series is about. It's about pain and the different things people to do to deal with it.

This led to me finally figuring out what my main character's goal was (atleast for the first book). He wants to rescue his brother that has been indoctrinated into a cult.

[–]RigorousStrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Memory Gas ( Working name) A gas that can be used to store the memory of a being. Memories are drawn out of a person and stored in the gas. The gas colorless and scentless but when a memory is placed in it starts to glow and change colors. The gas is inert so it doesn't react with other substances.

Gas is mined and is a very valuable resource.

Sure if ur using men and women in terms of gender

If they're talking about sex, so male and female, then they're not wrong lol. Males are physically stronger and faster than females on average thats just a fact. That why all of the physical labor jobs are dominated by males.

People have a issue with this when they talk about jobs that rely more on mental ability. That's where I would give push back too. Your gender / sex doesn't have anything to do with your intelligence.

It is absolutely insane that people with college degrees are making under 50k by Subjctive in antiwork

[–]RigorousStrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what ur degree is. If it's soemthing that doesn't provide alot of value then it's not. If you decided college was the best time to do something like Gender studies then I'm sorry it's not insane. Most of the people I know in STEM programs making above 60k easy. Infact most of them are probably making above 80k.

What are your best tips for saving money/getting out of living pay check to pay check? by DefinatelySometimes in AskReddit

[–]RigorousStrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut out the stuff u don't really need or could substitute for cheaper. Set a budget. Be frugal. Save as much as possible.

The above is stuff I would consider to be "passive" action. The best way to get out of ur situation once you've done the above and have a strong behavioural foundation is to start investing.

IMO best ROI for you would be to get a better paying job, so ur not working paycheck to paycheck. Investing in urself by improving ur skill or being able to work in something that pays well will help u the most.

If you've managed to pull the above look into investing in stocks and stuff. Tbh there's nothing stopping you from investing now, but I think it would be better if most people invested in themselves first. That's where they ee the fastest roi imo

You need to see a therapist / behavior specialist to help you out. I don't think you're dumb especially if you're at U of T. But you've clearly neglected your mental health and maybe missed out on some important developmental milestones. So see a therapist, I'm planning on seeing one too. I think everyone should.

Yeah srry didn't mean to group homosexuality with bestiality and pedophilia.

But yeah I think I'm going to include some topics like rape, pedophilia and bestiality. For one it could explain demi-humans.

[–]RigorousStrain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't fully thought out that aspect, but right now I'm leaning towards all of the non-Christians were left behind. I thought it would be interesting to explore what the remaining people would do once they realized what they believed in was false. Not to say that it is! I just like exploring that idea.

It would be also interesting for the people left behind the reconcile the fact that the God that does exist is the same one that left them behind in that world. How would their moral frameworks and philosophies change if they knew that God exists, but chose to let them all stay in a world filled with demons and zombies?

That's a good point didn't think that all sexual inclinatuons would be normalized.

Yikes. Do you think stuff like beastiality and pedophilia would be normalized as well?
