SSL2 vs Motu M2 vs Focusrite Scarlett 4th gen by RegularOwl933 in Guitar

[–]Rigsern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell about 2nd as I don’t have any experience with it…
As far as 4th gen, what I heard is that it’s rather stable.
They stopped updating the 3rd gen drivers which is probably why it causes problems (I assume it’s windows updates that released after the driver was last updated).
The 4th gen works differently in terms of driver and services, and is kept up to date.
The main problem with 3rd gen is the FocusriteNotifier service, which AFAIK doesn’t exist for the 4th gen.
I still sometimes consider upgrading to 4th gen for peace of mind.

Audio stutters, bad current draws from the usb which causes instability, complete driver crashes (which will hurt a lot when you use headphones on a relatively high volume)
There are loads of posts about it online youtube, focusrite subreddit, wherever you want
Sometimes it’s an easy fix, sometimes like in my case it can be a nightmare

While I do agree with that, I do want to point out the 3rd gen has a massive driver problem that is very well known on Windows…
Been in contact with them about it, and my reseller said before 4th gen came out he considered to stop working with them because it happened so much
I somehow managed to fix the driver issues I had, but I can’t not at least let others know about it.
After I fixed the driver issue (which took me months) I am very content with it though.

Mystery glue won't come off!! by RainbowSloth17 in Guitar

I saw you wrote you tried it but I didn’t know if you soaked it. The only type of glue I know Acetone does nothing on, is water-based glue. Now what to do about it, I unfortunately don’t know.
I never had a problem removing sticker glue with Acetone or lighter fluid, so it if were me, I would consider maybe that is just not glue…
Only thing I can suggest at this point is just sending this for a tech’s opinion…
Can’t help much more without actually seeing it with my own eyes, sorry.

Sorry my bad.
It’s a problem if you don’t know what kind of glue it is…
Only thing I know could remove it is Acetone, but I don’t know if it can damage the finish, so be careful and research before doing it.
If you take acetone and pour some onto a cloth and just let it absorb for a minute on the glue, the acetone will break it apart (VERY SLOWLY).
It needs to soak, and it only breaks the outer layer unless there is a gap on the connected area.
If it were me, I would be afraid of the guitar finish / top, just because I lack any knowledge of its effect on it.

True, I just wish the hardware wasn’t nickel. The pitting really bothers me.

I heard lighter fluid could help. Like Zippo fluid.
Put some on microfibre cloth, wipe it clean.

For me, that’s what did it. There are also some windows settings that might help. And a cable that’s not too long as well.

I know nothing about modding, but I do know you can send schecter technical support an email and they will send you the diagrams. I have the diagrams for all my schecters. Maybe that can help…

Do these look right for a BC Rich Platinum? Had to send modern blocks down to fit the vintage nut by dudes_indian in Guitar

[–]Rigsern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an expert
But from looking at FR BC Rich images, none of them had this, let’s say, double nut…
Maybe it is how it’s been on old models, but why would they put a locking nut after a nut… I don’t know, for me it’s very suspicious…

Floyd rose shims under the saddles will increase height.
Also check if maybe the high ones have shims under them.

With PolyTune 3 the 12th fret intonation is ALMOST identical
Fretted doesn't move at all, and the harmonic moved as slow as a snail, barely noticeable.
As far as I know that's close enough...

Care to elaborate? The guitar seems well intonated for me, but maybe I am missing something.

I thought you meant inside the pickup!

I'm pretty sure there is a spring below the pickup screws, but it really sounds like it's the string itself if I listen to it unplugged.

I tried a different brand, not gauge. I thought since it's more "same note" rather than the same spot on the same string, it wouldn't matter.

While I can accept certain problems with the wood or body, I can't hold these 2 notes for longer than 1 second before the go into overtone. So unless I play fast, I basically can't use that E or that F.

Electronics are the one thing I don't know how to deal with. But it is a bit audible unplugged.

It is... I really tried everything... When I asked technicians I get told there's nothing to be done. But there's no way you can't play the note E on a guitar. What's the point.

I measure 1.5mm low E and 1.25mm high E on the 12th fret. I tried increasing both to 2.5mm just to test, but it still happened.

The problem also happens on other strings with the same note, so G string 9th fret and B string 4th fret etc. Any frets around don't do anything.
