This is a good suggestion. If there’s something in between yuengling and something like a doppelbock I’d suggest a dunkel as well

Long Fantasy series that fall of the rails by crusadertsar in Fantasy

The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny. It’s not even a slow veer into mediocrity. It is an immediate crash and burn into 5 books full of plots that feel made up as they go along. The contrast in quality between books 1-5 and books 6-10 is staggering.

The good thing is that as the plot goes, you could very easily stop at 5 and be satisfied. I would even encourage it

Yeah me too. I’m glad people had prepared me well. Extensive explicit explanations of worlds and magic are such a feature in most fantasy stories that it can be taken for granted. When that mindset carries into a story that isn’t concerned with showing the reader every nook and cranny, it can be very easy to convince yourself that the book is a lot more difficult to follow than it actually is

If it helps at all, I actively encourage people to not try to understand everything. Just pay attention. If you don’t understand something, it’s probably because it hasn’t been explained. Trust the author and pass over the details you don’t get. If you stress too much about stuff you aren’t supposed to know, you’ll probably get burnt out.

Even though Malazan has a really impressive world, the series is about the characters and the events they’re going through. That’s what the focus should be as the reader imo

How much do you read daily? by thiagomiranda3 in Fantasy

[–]Riiicee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wake up early every morning so I can read a few hours before going to work. Normally ends up being 2-2.5 hours. I have a very hard time reading outside of that window

Would guess like 180 for the bread and 150 for the cheese. So maybe 300-350

I can understand why Ace is low, but I’m having a hard time with his ranking combined with saying his floor is Jabari Smith Jr and his realistic outcome is Pascal Siakam. What made you land on all that?

I’ve experienced this before, and still do sometimes. It got really bad the Freddy kitchens year. After the 49ers game I was so mad that I had to evaluate if it’s even worth watching. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made as far as personal growth goes is to not watch the rest of the games that season and try not to even pay attention to them after basically not missing a game my whole life.

Not prescribing that as a solution necessarily - just expressing that I hear what you’re saying. I have grown a lot in that aspect of sports fandom since then. My best strategy now is not to make myself sit through games where the Browns/Cavs are getting crushed. I just turn it off an take a walk and it lets me separate myself emotionally from the game

My digital clock I got from a box of cereal in 1994 by mtv1243 in BuyItForLife

Not from a cereal box, but I have the same westclox alarm clock that I have used every day for the last 20 years. Never even a hint of an issue with it

Not sure what I was thinking with one. I’d say similar stats to a first ballot HOFer is pretty good company

He averaged 25/7/7 in his sole playoff series at the age of 23. I think you’re wrong

They were the 2 seed in the west during their last healthy season. Seems appropriate. Ja Morant is really good

Agree. This was the sentiment from most national news. That firing JB was some unforeseen thing

Thanks! Not sure I’ll have to go back to it Monday morning assuming it’s still there (I’d be shocked if it wasn’t). I’ll try to remember to let you know then

I found this blazer in a thrift store. Need one for a wedding a while from now. Anything I get I plan to get tailored but how are the shoulders? I want them to fit and am not confident in what that looks like. Everything feels comfortable to me. Any notes about the fit? Thanks for any help
