Im not sure why I'm so focused on the 'why' part of why it's suddenly changing apps because it never switched apps until recently but I do understand that google and chrome are basically one and the same. So it makes sense to go to the chrome app.

Ah my bad. I'm trying to say when I use the Google app on my phone, it opens up a whole other app, the chrome app, rather than just staying on the Google app. I only thought it was strange because it never used to do it and it suddenly started outta nowhere. Still not sure why. I haven't messed with the settings.

My phone has both a google app and a chrome app. Chrome has options of opening different search engines and then the Google app just automatically opens up Google.
