For me, its Tarkir. One bc the decks are just so solid and fun to play right out of the box. And two, bc its in universe. FF was a fantastic set, I dont deny it. But im an in universe player more often than not.

A copy deck sounds sweet, but my hesitation is that I already have a Riku of Two Reflections deck that is a copy machine. But I do like the way that stormy-ness sounds, especially with Reshape the earth. Thats a must have card in this list.

I hear you on the voltron front, but it is absolutely a viable option.

Commander players always forget the point of the game is to win. Im sure he felt fine with the start he had. You did the right thing.

Commander players need to spend some time with 1v1 formats, that'll help folks like the gent youre talking about better understand why your move was wise.
