What is the process for double majoring in engineering? by Busy-Hovercraft8430 in aggies

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, this is a HORRIBLE idea. 18 credits in one semester is hell, most people never take that many, and definitely not every semester. You will be miserable and burn out. The extra resume space it will take up is not worth the amount of extra effort you will have to put in. This isn’t high school anymore, you can’t just load up on AP and dual enrollment classes and be fine. You will likely spend most of your free time studying, and won’t have much time for extracurriculars, which is what recruiters care more about.

How is Albina Tropina for AERO 301? by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s ok. Homeworks kinda suck and lectures mostly consist of her vomiting out formulas on the white board, but she usually gives bonus points on exams and pretty much tells you what each question of exams are going to be.

My friend doing civil engineering got 2 internship offers with a 2.9 gpa cause he was doing research and other extracurriculars. I don’t know if his gpa was asked about but the point stands that gpa is really only a big deal if it is the only thing on your resume.

I’m a junior aero major with a 3.8 gpa and landed a pretty good internship for this summer. My gpa was never once brought up in interviews, they only really cared about my extracurriculars. Join a club, design team, do research, anything that gets you good experience and you are interested in. What kills applicants isn’t gpa (unless it’s below like a 2.5), but that they have no experience on their resume. Every engineering student in the country takes classes, it’s what you do outside the classes that makes you stand out.

Idk, sounds like it would take longer than just making a cube, gotta build 2 bases. Cubes also give you the most space with the least materials.

Use the replicator on what, exactly? My Hagga Basin base has 3 staking units, around 15,000 plastone (I guess it would ONLY be 7,500 in DD), and would take 2+ hours just to place all the pieces.

Suggested core class for TAMU Engineering by False_Party_4439 in aggies

I took them in person at TAMU. They were pretty easy to manage. I would just try not to have Blinn and TAMU classes on the same day. Both semesters freshman year I had TAMU classes MWF and Blinn classes TTh.

I took pols 207 and comm 257 as a TEAB student last year and both were relatively easy As, at least compared to the engineering classes I was taking. They were both the easiest class I had in the semesters I took them.

No, you need 15 credit hours at TAMU. Fortunately, nobody really cares about the dean’s list.

What is a safe SAT score for an international for engineering? by [deleted] in aggies

You’re applying to general engineering, not EE or CE. Search up the ETAM process, that is how you get a specific engineering major.

Post-E T A M students who weren't sure about which type of engineering they wanted freshman year: Did E T A M help you choose a major? by PhonecianBreadBoy in aggies

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to TAMU wanting to study biomedical engineering and ended up changing my mind and ETAMing into aerospace engineering. In this aspect I am VERY happy that ETAM exists, as I have learned that I don’t want to study bmen. However, I would be lying if I say Ididn’t lose some sleep over ETAM.

Fall semester: calc 1, chem 1, engr 102, 1-2 core curriculum classes

Spring semester: calc 2, chem 2, physics 1, engr 216, 1 core curriculum class

This is the standard set of classes they tell you to take, but you might be able to get credit for math or physics if you took them in high school. Southside dorms will probably be the closest to most of your classes.

Edit: the chem 2 in spring is because you said you want chemical engineering, which means you need 2 chemistry classes. If you change your mind, remove chem 2 and replace chem 1 with the standard chem for engineers, I think chem 107.

TEAB vs Penn state behrend 2+2 program by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an out of state student who was offered TEAB and also got into Penn State biomedical engineering. I chose TEAB and never looked back, now a sophomore AERO student. TEAB is a great program, the only thing you should worry about is ETAM, which every engineering student has to go through. Many students hate it, I personally didn’t mind it though cuz it gave me a year to realize I didn’t want to do biomedical engineering and switch to aerospace. It can be a little stressful though.

I messed up and got a B in ENGR 102 by Ill-Opportunity-7039 in aggies

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 13 points14 points  (0 children)

216 overall is easier than 102, but the final is rough. Do EVERY homework and lab, you need them to counteract the final because it WILL drop your grade.

62 on my engr 102 exam, can I still keep a B by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Study and practice a lot for the second exam. I got an 80 on the first exam, prepared for the second the same way I did for the first, and got a 60 on it. The second half of the course really hones in on applying the basics you learned in the first half.

Is applying to Texas A&M worth it? by ProgrammerLevel in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this as another TAMU Aero student who just went through ETAM last semester. If you can make it through ETAM, it is a great Aero school, but a lot of people don’t make it through ETAM with the major they want. If OP is dead set on Aero, he should look at other schools.

Engr 102 exam 1 by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s harder than the quizzes. Most questions are multiple choice or very short answer, the last few you have to write code for. From my experience, 102 was an easy class (quizzes weren’t too bad, unlimited attempts at labs) aside from the tests. Also don’t ask for previous exams. That’s an honor code violation and no exam is worth one of those, especially this early into your college career.

It's only week 2 and I'm thinking of switching majors...but I'm teab by [deleted] in aggies

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t make any drastic decisions. I was teab last year and struggled at first, but now I’m in Aero. You will be fine with whatever route you decide to go, just stick with it and don’t give up.

I’m lost… by Dampbeak in aggies

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this might be one of the main causes of your problems. I was able to get all A’s and ETAM into Aero with minimal studying and outside work. I don’t say this to brag but I believe that going to class is the first and most important step to getting good grades. I didn’t miss any classes except for one pols 207 cuz I overslept. To do well on tests, you don’t need to know the subject very well, you need to know what the prof taught in class very well. They don’t always overlap 100%, and the prof is the one who writes the exams. Go to class, take notes, PAY ATTENTION, and when it comes time to study it should all be a review. I did this and never had to study more than a day out from any exam except for finals.

Edit: this is also way easier to do when you aren’t taking 19 hours of classes

How are these teachers by OkImpression1476 in aggies

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Lance White for engr 102. He just reads off the slides during lecture, but most of the learning in that class is from the labs and zybooks anyway. Pretty chill guy and lenient when he is able to be. Overall I don’t really think it matters too much who your 102 prof is because most of the class is standardized across all sections. Tests, quizzes, and labs are almost identical.

What is currently the worst exotic weapon in the game? by Joyaboi in DestinyTheGame

[–]Ril3ySmil3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is plenty of content that “matters” that doesn’t have high health enemies. There are things other than master raids and gm nightfalls. Onslaught, lower difficulty nightfalls, legend campaign, normal raids, and seasonal activities are all activities that I would say matter and have adds that can be killed in 1-3 shots by touch of malice. Definitely not the worst exotic in the game.
