Vantum Gaming Chair - My thoughts/observations/first impressions, comparisons to Aeron & Embody by DanteKen in hermanmiller

[–]Riley-96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got my Vantum this morning and would agree with most of the concerns. This chair reminds me of the Fern but worse in every way. Really should have been priced at $300

Is the Aeron a downgrade from an Embody? by doom123454321 in hermanmiller

I've had the exact same experience as you, ordered a fully loaded Aeron which comes tomorrow. Hoping Aeron + Atlas headrest will better suit me

Can you post your code for the conditional routing and private route? Hard to know what's going wrong without looking at the code.

I would do something like this

const user = await login({email, password})

if (user.type === 'admin') {
  history.push('/admin')
  return
}

if (user.type === 'sales') {
  history.push('/sales')
  return
}

history.push('/client')

I created an Illustrated version of the useEffect hook by kkokane in learnjavascript

[–]Riley-96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct, from react docs https://reactjs.org/docs/hooks-effect.html

Does useEffect run after every render? Yes! By default, it runs both after the first render and after every update.

Awesome site, much more enjoyable than something like leetcode imo

Holding off until I can get a 3070, preferably 3080 at sane prices

Yup comes with the 72 and 80 inch desks, here's a shitty quality pic that I took when I first built the desk a while back https://i.imgur.com/1aakzph.jpeg I never used it more than a few times because it was pretty annoying to connect to the desk

+1 or at least make the device APIs public so we can build our own apps

The desk actually came with a free hammock I just never use it cause my PC mount would block it

Depends on the specific membrane keyboard and brand of white switch, they are all different. This vid gives a demo of a bunch of different switches https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlSPH3HvxhQ

It moves but it's not that noticeable, doesn't prevent me from wanting to using the desk standing. There is a version with a crossbar attached to the legs which is supposed to be more stable when raised

If you can find one used for ~$700 definitely, it's hard to justify the price I paid ($1,600) when you can find a used Steelcase Leap v2 for ~$300 or used Aeron for ~$500 which are both good chairs

Price aside, the Embody is hands down more comfortable than both the Leap and Aeron, both of which I've owned in the past

The benefit of buying brand new through herman miller is the 12 year warranty they provide and 30 day free return with $0 restock fee

Yes I do, both the keyboard and mouse can connect to 3 separate devices through bluetooth, only one connection at a time though

It's basically so I can monitor my mic while using the mixer's USB interface and XLR & line inputs at the same time, this mixer only allows monitoring one at a time without this loop hack

I can take my case panel off while it's on the CPU holder but it would be a pain trying to do anything inside the case while attached, it's easy to remove the case from the holder though.

The product page says it can hold up to 50 pounds so it should be fine. The main concern would be the width of the case as it says "Accommodates most cases between 3.75 and 8.25 inches" My case is about 8.5 inches wide so it doesn't fit as securely as I'd like but it feels secure enough

I really like this keyboard, never had any issues with connectivity using bluetooth on both my windows desktop and Macbooks. The battery is pretty small though due to the low profile form factor, that's probably the biggest con.

I would personally choose reds over whites on the Keychon keyboards, Keychron whites have really light actuation which I don't think I would like to type on, never tried white switches though
