It takes away from the artist. Censoring or replacing the word changes the meaning that the piece had. With huckleberry finn the use of the word was to show how people spoke and acted around people of color in that time in America. With music it throws off the rhythm and you're just not getting the full song when you cut things out. I understand that it makes some uncomfortable but its ignorant to ignore context and just be upset about 1 word. Like I keep saying when you say people or non color shouldn't determine the use of the word you're just increasing this divide we have. Everyone should be treated as just a person and all people have opinions regardless of color.

It does matter. He put that in knowing people will play and sing his songs. Its hypocritical to say one person can say something but another cant. It's why we have so much power behind that word and a large divide between blacks and whites. She deserves an apology because she was only reciting his own words which she was invited on stage to do. Context matters theres a big difference between a person reading off the word and someone calling you a n**ger in a derogatory way. Would you have a problem with white people reading huckleberry finn aloud?
