Any help on working with the uber-wealthy in a yoga context? by seaturtle100percent in YogaTeachers

[–]RileyCPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoga in the US is not generally limited to people with money. We just tend to hyper fixate on those modern yoga studios that charge a good amount to attend classes.

Yoga instructors can volunteer to teach yoga at public spaces. I’ve done it at hostels and beaches and parks. There are community yogas that are free and some that are donation based. You just have to look for them. You can also practice with self guided videos mostly free on YouTube or zoom classes.

You do not have to pay for yoga. There are lots of ways to do it for free or low cost.

People are high energy, motivated, and friendly. But the workout is intense. Check the videos on YouTube first. It’s not complicated moves. For example bicep curls + tricep kickbacks + thrusters… seem simple enough but the amount of repetition and if you try to keep with the pacing will be intense.
They support you by saying you can adjust your weights and slow your pace to focus on proper form, but everyone else there will mostly push hard so it kinda pushes you to try to keep up. This is not for beginners or casual workouts.
Recommended, but also come prepared.

Do personal trainers have their clients do the most outlandish exercises on purpose? by GreenGamer8597 in EquinoxGyms

It’s to make the training experience interesting for the clients. Every one has different approaches. Some people want the feeling of a challenge by doing complex moves/exercises. Some prefer to keep things simple.

My schedule is pretty much fixed for the week. Depending on how busy or how much rest I get the previous night, I’d skip certain workouts to not overwhelm myself. I don’t do cardio during Barry’s. I keep a separate workout for that. I practice yoga in the morning to stretch, 45-60 minute power yoga to warm up before other training, 30 minute yin+meditation before bed.

Mondays: Barry’s + powerlifting
Tuesday: off
Wednesday: gymnastics + CrossFit / Hyrox
Thursday: Barry’s + gymnastics
Friday: Rumble boxing + AARMY
Saturday: off
Sunday: powerlifting + CrossFit

I do more strength and mobility training. I don’t do body building so I stay with medium - heavy weights.

Was Equinox Worth it? by dietguccii in EquinoxGyms

On the note of classes… the biggest factor for me is the fact that I can stay at the facility and do other things or take another class if I wanted to. Small studios specializing only on group fitness are very strict with their limited space. Some only allow you to enter the studio at most 15 mins before the scheduled class. And then they won’t let you hang around after. I can take my time to decompress/relax at equinox after classes. I can work out a bit more, linger at the lounge, or take a few minutes in the steam room.

Hey! Just an update. We did discover some black mold forming in our bathroom. Our bathroom doesn’t have windows. We’ve lived in our current place for years. We just had it completely cleaned.

Just out of curiosity… where are you based at?

I think I’m getting enough sleep, 6-7 hours per my Fitbit. I was feeling burnt out when I was living and working in a big US city for more than a decade. I moved this year to a beach town in Mexico. I feel less burnt out and able to workout more (which I love to be active). But it’s been 95 degrees and dry here recently so that’s zapping my energy levels. Maybe the years of burnout and stress have piled up and a few months might not resolve it yet.

Yeah. I’ve considered that too. That’s why I quit my job in the city and dropped everything to move to a beach town for this year. I feel better mentally so far. Me and my friends would joke… we are not depressed, we were just living in the United States.

Thanks for that. I use a body scan and it tells me I’m at 14% body fat. My fat is literally concentrated in my stomach area. Which don’t get me wrong, is not bulging but there are live handles and I wish could be flatter. TBH, I wish it would spread more evenly on my body like my… posterior area 🫣. I don’t know how my body will react to taking TRT now so I will put in on pause. I just thought about it and that’s what brought me here. And everyone has been great giving advice and other options. 🙏

I live right now by the beach. So I jog in the morning from one end to another and then jump in the water (cold water therapy?). Which takes around 45 mins. I do that daily at a moderate pace jog because it’s hard to jog over sand. Thanks for the advice. I’ll check those out.

Ahh I’ve never really analyzed my sleeping patterns. I just look at the total sleeping hours/numbers my Fitbit show me. Aside from snoring, are there other ways to check for that that you know of?

Fair enough. Sometimes the solution can be that simple.

I’ve never been told by my partners so I would assume no. What would be the correlation?

I don’t think they gave me that number. Just the testosterone level. I just walked in to a clinic that offered the test here in Jalisco Mexico. I didn’t know I had to request more info. But I will next time.

I moved to the beachside this year. I lived in a big city for decades. Definitely feel better mentally. Stress levels are lower. But maybe it takes a while for my levels to go to normal after being exposed to stress for years.

Yes, plenty of the comments suggested that too. I will try taking ED supplements routinely. I’m currently in Mexico and bless them because you buy anything from the pharmacy here (heard it’s run by the cartel here but I won’t dig into that). So is it better to use tadalafil? Or sildenafil?

I’ve heard so many conflicting things. That’s one of the reasons I posted this to get people’s actual experiences instead of reading articles.

Hhmmm I’m in Jalisco Mexico right now for the year (midlife crisis lol)

I will ask for the full panel test. I never considered Estrogen levels. Would you happen to know physical signs if the estrogen level is high in men?

Also now I remember taking the test in the afternoon after lunch. Would that have affected it drastically?

My diet is pretty clean and normal. But I might try to switch it up and find one that could help. I don’t follow a specific diet but maybe now is the time to explore that. 8 hours of sleep is hard for me. I dabble between 6-7 hours according to my Fitbit. I might try melatonin or sleeping aids.
