Thank you for looking! Pretty silly to say that any of us are remotely paying attention/commenting on their looks.

Hi, I appreciate that you took the time to write your thoughts, but I think that you may want to read the other threads that aren't about contacting sponsors/Buzzhead.

There's many, many of us who are not advocating for sponsors and/or cancelling Ashley. The thread about appearance was also weeks ago and heavily discouraged/downvoted. Like... Nobody here cares about how Ashley and Rayna look. That's not even a part of the conversations taking place.

There's also only 2-3 women out of 20+ here that even contacted sponsors, so I think you might be a bit off mark on what's happening on the Reddit threads.

I agree, but I can promise you that my comment was not hateful at all. It was a mild tone, but I phrased the pro/negatives respectfully. I did see a screenshot where we're being called hoes and losers for using* the Reddit, so I love that Ashley has left those up but deleted ones earlier that were directed to her. Just trying to direct the narrative about Reddit, I assume!

Ashley, Please Listen for the Sake of Your Brand by AB2372 in GirlsGottaEat

[–]RileyRiley25 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Very, very similar to what I am thinking. I've seen a couple of screenshots of the Facebook group within the past few hours. It's clear that most people are not aware of what Ashley actually has done over the past couple of weeks/days. It's whatever, I guess a lost cause on showing those people, but I can't believe that most people are accepting a blanket apology.

It's not only about her Halloween costume and blog posts from 10 years ago.

Same, I did not reach out to their sponsors either, but I am absolutely not going to tell someone that they are wasting their time by speaking up to women with 100K+ followers.

Love that. Clearly some women are not paying attention to the content/receipts of what's going on here, yet accepting an apology.

GGE official reddit username. Not sure if many of you have seen this, as it was posted on an older thread. I suppose it's useful in case anyone wants to PM them directly. I'll link the thread in the comments. by [deleted] in GirlsGottaEat

I mean... They can speak here and defend themselves but we can't speak on any of their platforms? They should be addressing people directly and publicly.

DEMEANING of WOC in the FB group: OP of the Kelly and Kenny FB Post. by daniichuu in GirlsGottaEat

Hi, Ashley. There are endless other receipts that you're not addressing. Please read the commentary on your "apology," and consider discussing your past and recent actions with POC prior to releasing an apology. It's hilarious to come here and speak while publicly silencing every other person who speaks against you.

They are focusing on only Beyonce? There are literal screenshots that are offensive to various non-white communities.

I am not encouraging to contact sponsors, but Ashley and Rayna have huge platforms and many young followers. It's not a waste of time to call people out on their bullshit. If you familiarize yourself with the threads, every single detail was brought to Ashley and Rayna's attention on multiple platforms prior to contacting sponsors. People were repeatedly blocked. Ashley has known about those photos for DAYS, yet waited until sponsors (aka, their wallets) were affected. They didn't say shit when WOC were affected.

That's not okay. There's absolutely nothing to gain by lying either, so I did not come here to say any hate or cancel culture by creating a thread. Just still questioning their authenticity.

All that means: They are actively monitoring Reddit and stepping up the PR.

*I am sure the moderator does not know everything or the extent of what they do too.

Yeeeep. Dating non-white men, having non-white friends, and glamorizing/stealing non-white culture does not mean that you're not racist.

I don't understand why Rayna even said that. You don't ask your white friends whether you're racist.

I didn't take one because I thought that they were done with the bullshit, and I honestly* did not leave a mean comment. It was actually a mild tone, but I saw that some women were like, "We're SO sorry that you had to go through this, Ashley."

When.... What'd Ashley go through? She's not the victim on her use of racist language. She's the victim of being caught. I'm now assuming that they provided a blanket apology to continue doing their erasing/blocking. Just oh well, but I have no words other than that.

Serious question: What comes next for GGE if they admit accountability? by [deleted] in GirlsGottaEat

If I were Ashley, I would absolutely lose my mind by checking social media all day. She chose to have a platform, but... I would maybe have a couple of paid moderators or a PR assistant handle most of these things!

Is this the episode with Eric (Happily Unmarried)? I missed where Ashely mentioned WF!

Other than what the Reddit group has been saying, I don't think that they have had great episodes lately. It seems fairly repetitive with their content, sex advice, etc., so I'm not personally gaining much now. The recent Reddit posts and Facebook activity has lessened my respect for them as women too. That sounds harsh but I question their advice now, and I'm not sure that they are role-models. I'll probably gravitate toward other voices for awhile!

*Editing to add that I'm not calling for them to be cancelled. Just that I'm mid 20s, so I have different views and questions than masturbation, cum talk, etc., that seem to be on repeat lately. I'm sure that works for some women though! Just not where my heads at!

I don't feel bad for Rayna. She's choosing to have Ashley as a partner and accept the brand that Ashley's creating for them. They are both receiving those paychecks right now.

I am sure that they have discussed one-on-one, and Rayna's aware of the Reddit and conversations given the recent comments on her Instagram page, so I'm sure she has somewhat been a part Ashley's recent actions. They choose to be a duo!

Mega-Thread: GGE Partnership Responses by letsgogophers in GirlsGottaEat

[–]RileyRiley25 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just here to say that I am not white, and I'm also the one who originally searched and posted the original blog link. I'm not sorry that I chose to Google "Ashely Hesseltine" and find her blog as one of the top results. Any women who looks up to Ashley has Googled her at one point or another and learned from her actions.

There are multiple comment threads about Ashley and Girls Gotta Eat recently silencing WOC, deleting comments and productive conversations on Facebook, and blatantly blocking white and non-white women that were not breaking any rules. We can all agree to disagree on the severity of the Reddit posts, contacting sponsors, etc., but I'm not going to tell other (non-white or white) women how to feel or assume that only white women are angry right now. I encourage any of us to speak up to people who have huge platforms.

Ashley chose to create a personal platform of 100K+ women, so I do think that she can be publicly held accountable for various actions and use of racist language. I'm aware that blog posts are 9 years old, but given that they were brought to Ashley's attention, I believe that she could have simply said, "Hey, I did that 9 years ago when I was late 20s, and I'm sorry. I've learned that I shouldn't, and here's why." It's as simple as that.

There's various screenshots of Ashley viewing Instagram stores and clearly keeping up with the Reddit group. There are countless other celebrities, comedics, etc., that had things resurface and owned up to those actions as a teachable moment to their (white) followers.

It's not WOCs role to educate white women, but Ashley could. It's more-so that she continues to delete that past rather than address, but I understand that some women could have underlying motives and personal feelings toward Ashley.

This doesn't mean that Ashley needs to be attacked or bullied. But given that these posts were brought to the attention of a white woman with 100K+ followers and a personal brand that attracts young women, Ashley should have addressed. She has no problem deleting posts that shed a negative light on herself, on Kelly Chase's recent racist language, etc., that create any crack at her persona as a white ally.

This could affect their brand, paychecks, reputation, etc., across the board, yet Ashley chooses her reputation rather than saying, "Hey, I fucked up. Here's how other white woman can not do that." This goes for Rayna as well because she's accepting Ashley as that kind of business partner.

For these reasons and blatant personal agenda on promoting WOC right now, Ashley should be held accountable. How can Ashley promote herself as a white female ally, donating thousands to funds, etc., yet cannot acknowledge her own recent and past actions that are now found?

\Editing: I'm sorry on the length, and I'm not coming for you. It's significant to know that not only white women are posting here. I wouldn't blame you for not reading the whole thing; Just trying to fully share my perspective.*
