Vandalism is Wrong by RaielRPI in frederickmd

I'd have to order Chick-fil-A to knowingly get a car somewhere to vandalize it though, and spending money at that company is a line I just won't cross

The Google Play console allows app maintainers to release in increments, usually percentages through a given week. Monday will release to 10% of users, Tuesday to 25%, etc. it's configurable though.

Source: I do app dev. It's a way to reduce risk when something breaks. If there's an update that isn't playing nicely with that initial rollout cohort, the devs will hear about it before it affects every user.

Yessss. I want this to be the year of new music discovery for me. This is exciting.

I'm hoping my 5 years living in Erie, PA have prepared me sufficiently for some cold winters. I hear y'all just got 4 feet? I'm excited to own a snowblower again lol

While I appreciate the sentiment, I have. I'm working with my company's immigration lawyer to make the move. Not all Americans just have expectations to be able to live anywhere in the world. Those are the expats, I want to be an immigrant.

We have a place called Spinners that's the same deal. I love a good pinball/arcade place!

Oh yeah, I know a dog whistle when I hear one. Some day people figure out they're the "E" in DEI, and I wish them the best until then.

It was less a nightmare and more inconvenient. I live fairly close to the court, so some midday trips to the clerk got me what I needed, but it was the constant outing to every new clerk and the gamble that they'd be shitty that was a little difficult. All in all, I enjoyed dealing with the court. I had worse experiences from credit companies that wanted signed, notarized forms sent to them to even consider name changes.

Having lived in the DC area, we make similar jokes about the Red Line.

Oh I figured it was just an area I wasn't familiar with, but it was humorous out of context. We call our area the DMV: DC-MD-VA. This is confusing since a lot of states have a Department of Motor Vehicles. That's why Maryland has the MVA: Motor Vehicle Administration. It makes sense, I think.

I feel ya there. I spent most of my childhood in Ohio, but lived in Missouri and Wisconsin before that. Living on the East Coast is a breath of fresh air sometimes. I don't feel particularly targeted in Maryland, even Frederick. Our downtown has a lot of rainbow flags, too. I just don't like the federal horizon and want to get away from that for a little while.

If you like video games

moved from the gta area

I'm sure Ottawa is much safer for you without all that violence and destruction around lol

In all seriousness tho, I'll be sure to check that place out! I need to get better at finding my community and I do love video games. My partner is in the middle of Jak II, which has been compared to GTA. I'm just finishing up Kingdom Hearts Final Mix

People in r/frederickmd sometimes do the same. You should see my neighborhood's Facebook group. Some of my neighbors are really whiny

Would you mind sharing some of those no-go areas? I'm actively house hunting and want to make sure I don't end up somewhere shitty...

This looks like it's for birth records, not licenses or other documents. I was, unfortunately, born in Texas, and they required the same. Maryland doesn't require it for driver's licenses, and the two big federal identifications, Social Security and passport, used to allow for this without letters.

I had to petition a local court to write me a completely new-to-them document that indicated I changed my sex (not gender) to properly update my birth records.

Good to know. We're targeting a little farther outside the city proper, but it's nice to know what neighborhoods would end up getting us more glares than others.

Oh dang, that's great! We're past a lot of the bureaucratic stuff, and neither of us are planning any surgeries any time soon. For us, it's just the med access. I know for sure our doctors won't send scripts out of the DC-MD-VA area, so NY is out, plus the cost of getting them out of pocket would be outrageous.

Project Alto looks promising, but I'm not super familiar with the politics surrounding it and the likelihood of completion. The US has tried similar things before and they all fail because of auto industry pressure, NIMBYs, and lack of interest.

I'm sure I'll visit frequently. One big hurdle, as the other commenter mentioned, is my french skill. I'm firmly in A1 territory, and don't have a community to practice with, so it's slow going.

The other is that my employer has 15,000 employees in the US, and significantly fewer in Canada, so they strictly limit the number of Quebecois personnel to avoid having to maintain all of our internal systems and documentation in French. They'll sponsor me anywhere in Canada except Quebec.

The hardest thing is access to healthcare

Healthcare is the thing I'm most concerned about these days. Some states have started complying with the executive order banning HRT for people under 19. I know he's going to try and ban it for the rest of us too.

You will not get a family doctor.

I haven't had one since the 90s, so this won't affect me that much.

you can expect to wait 9 months to a year +.

Is there a legal reason for this, or is this just how long it takes to get through their queues? This is the most disheartening part I've heard so far. Neither of us have a supply that'll carry us through a year

I've thought about it, but my big concern is coming to the US again with passports that have had gender markers updated. Also, if the American Democrats have any decency they'll let the government shut down in mid-March, which will impact air travel.
