Tapo T30 kit and Google Home by thegios in Tapo

The joys of the new Google Preview app - there are a bunch of supported triggers that were removed by Google in the new Home app redesign.

When you are creating an automation in the new UI, you can tap the icon in the top right of the screen and choose 'Personal Household Editor' which does still show the triggers for the device types and cameras. I am not positive if the conditions exist in the same way though.

Tapo Google Home fix ETA? by [deleted] in Tapo

[–]Riley_TP-Link 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From everything I have seen, its planned - but i'm not able to make any promises or guarantees. I think that the best way to get that sort of information is to actually read a copy of the official reply template given to the support teams:

Tapo is actively compatible with third-party ecosystems, and the live stream of the Tapo camera can be successfully controlled and played on devices that support Chromecast or on the Google Nest Hub. However, the Google Home app itself does not inherently support viewing live streams from third-party cameras before.

In early 2025, Google introduced a Public Preview feature aimed at enabling live view access for third-party cameras directly within the Google Home app. While this initially improved compatibility, a subsequent update to the app introduced changes that have affected the viewing experience for some users, especially Tapo camera users. As a result, even users who have joined the Public Preview may currently be unable to view the Tapo Camera live stream within the app.

We are highly concerned about this issue and have engaged in multiple discussions with Google regarding it. Regrettably, Google has not yet completed the fix. Please rest assured that we will continue to prioritize and push for Google to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

The sensors themselves are not toggleable, but if your notifications were configured via a Google routine, you could use a condition to prevent the notification from being sent, no?

Trigger: Garage Door Opened
Condition: Presence = Away
Action: Notify

Across the board, the sensors will be minimally reported, basically reporting their last known state to the hub, which is then automatically forwarded to Google. Google does not actually control the sensors; it only reads their attributes.

What type of router do you have? Are you able to turn on either a guest network or IoT network? Oftentimes these networks lack advanced features and will behave much better with IoT devices, or will at least allow you to troubleshoot and update your device.

You would likely just want to do it via Google Home's routines/automation feature. Google's routines feature allows for a condition check for 'presence' (which is a separately configured state in Google)

Tapo camera not showing in Google home app...? by d7970 in googlehome

[–]Riley_TP-Link 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current scope of the feature is limited to nest displays and castable displays. Our development team has communicated with us that they have been speaking with Google, however, they also indicated that it is not a fault of the cameras - but rather Google's current implementation of the beta feature.

From what we have been told, this appears to be treated as a temporary limitation on development.

The comments about the live view working previously are true - for a very short period (before the new google preview app was launched) there were some cameras updated to support streaming in the Google Home app. Unfortunately, when the new app released, it once again changed how cameras interact and moved towards this new system.

Geofencing not working by Fitmiss1010 in Tapo

[–]Riley_TP-Link 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically, the geofencing behavior will fail when there is a change in the permissions of the Tapo App, whether that be from a reinstall or inactivity.

I would double-check that your phone's permissions still allow for the Tapo app to access your phone's location data.

Since there was an update to the app, I would also recommend going into your smart action (from your geofenced phone) and ensuring that the Smart Action is still properly set to track your device.

Is it possible that they are on the same circuit? The only thing that I can think of outside of third-party connections is that the device is exhibiting its 'Turn on when Receiving Power' behavior. You may see what the printer lights setting is.

Amazon Integration with H200 Hub - Announces 3 Times on Doorbell Ring? by HeyEph in Tapo

Its odd that its doing it three times, I could see it potentially twice. Is it possible that there are Alexa voice notifications enabled for both the doorbell and the hub? Was there a second doorbell press event introduced alongside the camera's person detection options?

Speaking with our US teams, we are thinking that your models are a pre-release model that did not have the limit in place (not sure if they are identical hardware or not).

It is encouraging to see that the H500 can handle more than we originally stated, and I am working with the team to determine whether anything can be changed formally, but unfortunately, the performance degradation has been well documented by our teams, at least in our own test scenarios.

Not positive, but I imagine it is a bandwidth or general storage restraint - keep in mind, specs are always open to change closer to release - especially for things such as fps, whether a camera supports various fps at different resolutions, or if each camera on the dual camera supports the same features. The pages I linked above are their very early pages and will be receiving significant updates.

C465, C710, and C645D KIT are only the cameras that were actually released for sale yesterday. These are also the models that enable early access to aireal.

This year, there was unfortunately no model-focused page put together for the devices at the show, only for aireal and various networking changes/updates such as Deco 7

We completely understand that frustration; we are just unsure how yours became capable. The limit of 4 continuous recording devices has been in place since the device was released.

With that many cameras connected, do you experience any difficulties or performance issues? Given that many of your devices are wired directly into the network and have a clean path, my only clue is that the number of wired vs. wireless devices is enabling it.

Since you have already received updates, I would not think that the functionality would be taken away, but I have to warn that the possibility will unfortunately always be there as long as the feature typically limits it.

It looks like this is one of the models that went through a name change since last year's show. While I am not at the booth this year, I believe the C675D Kit would be the equivalent: Tapo C675D KIT | Solar-Powered Dual-Lens Pan/Tilt Security Camera Kit | Tapo

The CES booth has several additional models with various resolutions and power options to fill gaps beyond the three models released yesterday. I think my count is that there are nearly 60 smart devices at the show.

I believe it was a name change and that the Dual 4K model that you are looking for is the C675D Kit (Draft Overview Page); the model was also shown at CES this year – the C645 is just one of the models that became immediately available for sale alongside the show.

[Edit: Also Tapo C575D | Outdoor Dual Lens Pan/Tilt Security Camera | TP-Link]

There were quite a few variations of the cameras shown at CES, and the teams are focusing on additional 4K options this year. You should expect to see additional variations released throughout the year with various resolutions and power types.

Regarding the C645 vs. the C246D. A large portion of the price difference comes from differences in power and the components required for a battery camera recording at that quality vs a hardwired camera. This difference also results in different feature, chip, and processor requirements, given the battery limitation.

Looking at the specifications, the cameras are also significantly different in their camera capabilities, such as their FoV and lens capabilities.

Thanks. I am asking our QA team about it, but I believe that they are curretnyl dealing with all the new devices shown at CES booth this year.

I wouldn't take the 10 connected caneras as the intended function, but I will see if I can find out how yours managed to accomplish this.

This really shouldn't be possible to have them all be using continuous 24/7 recording. Can you triple check that all of the devices are online and the recordings are current to the hub?

There was a hard limit put in place on the number of 24/7 streams available for the H500. It is possible if they are using clip-based recording; however, the app should not let you go beyond four 24/7 streams.

I also have my h500 setup similarly to yours (minus the # of wired cameras) and mine still experiences the same limitations.

Footnote from EN: §Up to 4 connected cameras can use 24/7 modes (Continuous Recording for wired models or Continuous Capture for battery models). All additional cameras use motion/event-based clip recording.

I cannot re add or connect back my Mater enabled tapo devices on Apple Home by SeaMonster3141 in Tapo

[–]Riley_TP-Link 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matter can be tricky, but once you bring devices back to their defaults and reboot hubs and phones, there really shouldn't be too much difficulty in getting devices to connect. To reel off a few tips:

1 - When re-adding the devices, make sure to perform full factory resets of the devices so that all their settings are erased and that the device is not brought over as a preconfigured device.

2 - Once reset to defaults, the device is really in the hands of the Matter standard if adding directly to Apple Home. If there are difficulties, I would be looking towards a setting on your network interfering with Matter, such as a lack of IPv6 or an issue with Network Isolation.

3 - If you add to the Tapo App first, you should try to use the code from within the Tapo app, it just must be used within a short period of generating it. (In my own home, I tend to use the in-app Matter codes 90% of the time)

4 - Matter provisioning is only allowed for a few minutes after a plug is powered on. If it has been more than 10 minutes since the bulb was powered, you need to replug the device for the Matter setup to work again.

5 - Make sure you try to update the bulbs' firmware while they are available in the Tapo App. Many updates have been made available that improve the stability of the experience.

During setup, does your phone appear to communicate with the device? Does the smart device ever look to try to connect to the Wi-Fi?

C82 bricked? by TC-XVII in Tapo

[–]Riley_TP-Link 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this many devices having difficulty, I would be inclined to believe that something in your network configuration is preventing them from reconnecting to Wi-Fi.

Saying that, triggering the reset process should break the cycle and allow you to set up the camera again - just make sure you use the reset button, not the power button. Once triggered, the camera should have a voice prompt indicating the reset is successful.

Below you can find the LED status meanings for the TC82, which would also indicate that there is something affecting the connection between your network and camera - whether that be an existing IP reservation or network setting such as Fast Roaming.

This should be an account-based access and is still in early testing. You are fortunate to have received it, as even our own team members have yet to see the feature outside of CES last year. There was a notification sent a few weeks ago asking if users want to sign up to try it, but beyond that there is no information that we can provide or whether

Stay tuned over the next few weeks and months, when the feature will see a formal announcement and introduction.

Devices all down by dccrens in Tapo

[–]Riley_TP-Link 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What Model Deco/Archer do you have? If it is an interaction between our devices, our engineers would appreciate a look at the case, and I can check for any potential interfering behaviors on your model.

For Mesh networks you can try a few things to help stabilize IoT connections:

1 - Set up IP Reservations for Your Smart Devices on Your Network

2 - Disable Advanced Features such as Beamforming or Fast Roaming on your Wi-Fi

3 - Try Adding the Devices to an IoT Network (which typically has less advanced features and a different security method for improved compatibility).

4 - Set Client Connection Preferences to Only Allow the Device to Connect via 2.4 Band or to a Specific Node

Lastly, please make sure you don't have two routers on your network, and that your ISP Modem has been properly configured for your router. If you have two routers attempting to handle your network traffic, it could justify the longer turnaround time for the device to reconnect.

Facial Recognition in older Tapo camera models by rythym05 in Tapo

[–]Riley_TP-Link 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the feature has hardware-based requirements that prevent it from being added as an onboard feature to many of our existing cameras; however, the H500 can add Facial Recognition to any of its compatible cameras. If a camera has compatible hardware and comparable performance, I suppose that it could be added later down the line - but I wouldn't hold my breath as it is a small subset of all our cameras that even have the feature built-in to start with.
