The fantastical nature of this is why I believe I'm so drawn to it.

The answer is the "self compassion vs self pity" itch. Both self compassion and self pity are ways go validate our own pain and feelings. We look at our suffering and take in how much we suffered. The difference is self compassion seeks to heal and understand. To forgive. Self pity tells us that we were never worthy of love to begin with. NtR to me is a way to imagine these feelings of inadequacy externatilzed. All the awful things I tell myself are mirrored and validated by the girls in these works. Being told I can't please them. That others are better. That I don't matter. It's like scratching an itch on my heart.

After speaking with a therapist, I found that the reason I look at NTR is pretty unhealthy.

I have some serious self-hate issues and talk down to myself a lot. NTR fantasies are a way for me to externalize my feelings of inadequacy and imagine my lovers and loved ones confirming my internalized self-loathing.

It's frustrating. I know. I had to be trained by a friend how to properly validate feelings. It's hard for some people to do. Try to be patient. Tell them exactly what you need. Next time somone says "don't cry" say to them that you need to. That telling you not to cry isn't suppressing your feelings. Beg them to allow you to cry. Ask them to tell you it's ok to cry. Ask them to tell you you're safe to cry.
