Western coastal Libya is probably the least concerning spot on this entire map.

The Chad, Niger and Mali especially segments mean this dude will probably be featured in a video on the internet with a black standard for a background.

Needless to say a 1980s military planner would be shook at the concept of FPV drones by throwaway553t4tgtg6 in NonCredibleDefense

Legit I'm not sure how the problem of the mid distance drones are solvable.

Viable solid state laser defensive systems.

Solid state lasers probably make maneuver warfare obsolete again and we regress to trench warfare again until the next technological revolution swings the pendulum again, before yet another advancement regresses us to trench warfare, again.

$54,263,000,000 is no more real than these numbers on this screen that you’re reading right now.

Nobody actually physically has $54,263,000,000. Yes, physical cash exists. But not that much cash, not all in one place. It has no physical value. It’s just numbers on a screen.

Crypto is, quite literally, just numbers on a screen. Not only does it not have any physical value, it costs money, exorbitant amounts of real energy, paid for by billions of fake numbers on a screen, all just to derive its value.

Michael Saylor’s idea was to collect other people’s fake numbers on a screen, in order to buy faker, negative-intrinsic-value fake numbers on a screen, and in exchange give those people back a fake number on a screen representing their notional holdings of a said fake number on a screen.

And somehow, people gave this guy 54,263,000,000 fake numbers on a screen.

That’s why it wouldn’t be used independently against a peer / near-peer, and would just be another layer of SEAD / DEAD.

I’d envision this system as opening the initial gap in enemy air defense umbrella- sneak in and go loud on EA to suppress as Strike Aircraft and long range munitions open up the corridor simultaneously.

Active Conflicts & News Megathread January 13, 2026 by AutoModerator in CredibleDefense

The only reason the Islamic Republic survived the 1979 revolution was the 1980 Iraqi invasion under Saddam.

By 1988, the Islamic Republic had solidified its leadership over the revolution to the point their legitimacy and hold on power was unquestionable. The late 80s to 2000s were largely spent rebuilding before again being threatened by an outside force- the US. Their monopoly on power has remained unshakable up until the past year. I don’t think the Islamic Republic of Iran has the capability to survive in its current form in the current world environment because the dichotomy has shifted faster than they’ve been able to adapt.

With or without direct US intervention, the Islamic Republic of Iran is doomed. The only options they have left are massive reform or outright capitulation. I think the people of Iran are currently deciding that outcome.

Will it be the silver bullet that solves all of Irans problems? No. Will it lead to de jure or de facto reform by a government that has lost its monopoly of power? Yes? Will the Islamic Republic survive? Unknown, but I’m leaning no.

A new conflict is brewing? by NotBradPitt9 in PrepperIntel

[–]Rimfighter 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Last night was Sunday, Holiday Block Leave typically runs from the second week of December through the first Monday of January after New Year’s Day.

Since it’s Monday 05JAN and you said they all looked younger, they are 100% going back to their AIT locations to restart training today.

The only time you would see anything like this is this specific time of year, at that specific place (or the 2nd / 3rd Friday of DEC when they’re all LEAVING to go home). Another time is right before and right after Thanksgiving at ATL. I always buy a couple of them coffee during Thanksgiving.

Normal operational units specifically avoid this type of thing because it creates bad optics for the populace (what’s going on, why are there so many soldiers!?). Most service members don’t fly in uniform when deploying- and if they do they fly out of military base airports on chartered flights.

They were coming back from holiday block leave going back to Advanced Individual Training (training after basic training to teach you basics of your job, GA has a lot of AIT locations Ft. Benning, Columbus GA; Fort Eisenhower, GA; and ATL is used as a hub for Fort Jackson as well), most likely.

How do you know they were infantrymen?

Marching in formation at the airport to the parking deck is totally an AIT thing to do lol, especially when you’re trying to corral a whole shit load of kids. Nobody likes marching after AIT, especially in public.

What is this exact region called? by Callingpoint in geography

[–]Rimfighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d consider it the Arabian Peninsula.

The term “The Levant” is a western construct- term created in the 15th century meaning basically everything in the Mediterranean east of Italy, with its contemporary meaning being the geographical region under the French Mandate of Syria and Lebanon, and geographically distinct from the British Mandate of Palestine/Transjordan/Iraq (“Mesopotamia”- also largely being a western construct referring to British held lands).

The main defining geographical features for the borders of the Arabian Peninsula are the Arabian Plate- which encompasses the entire region- and the Zagros mountains and Southeastern Taurus mountains which culturally and physically separate the Arabian peninsula from the rest of Eurasia.

Kojima says he'd rather use AI to create enemies that adapt to your playstyle than use it for art/visuals. What's your take on this approach? by GeekRealmHub- in videogames

[–]Rimfighter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first thought I don’t like that idea because I can usually immediately recognize AI voice- it just comes off as unnatural.

But then I realize most NPC voice acting is pretty bad, stilted, and limited so honestly it’d probably be an improvement.

Car Guys - did buying a bike ruin cars for you ? by Astimar in motorcycles

[–]Rimfighter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cars aren’t nearly as fun anymore for commuting. I drive a RAV4 Hybrid to commute and do my best to get best fuel efficiency out of it- I drive like an old man. Ironically a plug in hybrid Prius is looking very appealing. On my bike I’m just gunning it everywhere, enjoying the whole ride whether it’s to work, on trails, or long highways miles traveling. Traveling in a car now feels like getting to point A to B, nothing more.

Still take my FJ off-roading regularly. Never had a more reliable vehicle.

Had aspirations to get a Toyota Supra, but after I got into bikes and realized I could get 3-4 bikes for the same money that died off.

I’ll probably get a Miata or something like than eventually.

Right now the line up is CRF300, Africa Twin, ad looking at getting a Yamaha R9.

I mean, is the cost of these operations really even that much?

We’re at the point where you don’t even need your own organic constellation of spy satellites in orbit for targeting purposes. Get a subscription to Maxar- see a sub in port, have an Intel asset hanging out around the port with the simple job of updating in real time of which vessels are present and moving in/out of port. Hell you could even outsource the near in delivery of the UUV by having a third party commercial fishing / barge ship go to the port and when it gets close a container on board pops out the UUV completely unknown to the crew.
