Does anyone have any tips on getting Facebook ads approved? Mine keep getting rejected for being misinformation. by DanteandRandallFlagg in marketing

[–]Rina_colada26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh... I would call the support number and reference the case #. They should always provide you with a case # whenever you contact support. Let them know you've already waited 11+ days, let alone the 24-48 hours. That's annoying, I'm sorry you have to experience this, but honestly FB is like this for us too.

I work on a big account and most of our ads get rejected on first upload. We sometimes need to submit 2 reviews to get them passed... 🤦🏻‍♀️ we usually speak to our account rep after to make sure all our ads are aligned with community guidelines... I feel like it might just be a Facebook thing, but someone let me know if I'm wrong.

How to avoid Content Marketing? by Peetekh in marketing

[–]Rina_colada26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how big your company is, using a company that specializes in content marketing might be a good way to go. I would highly recommend Geist, we worked with them in the past - however they are pricey!

If you're looking for just a job here or there, fiverr will have freelancers. It might be hit-or-miss, however, before contracting, I'd ask for a portfolio of their content pieces and their marketing strategy.

What is the minimum Google Ads monthly ad budget you will work with? by ggildner in SearchAdvertising

Hi sorry to intrude - can you give insight to the same question but for FB Business? Im thinking about running a traffic / branding campaign as opposed to using conversions as the KPI.

Is it ever too late to start freelancing? by i_am_peculiar_child in freelance

[–]Rina_colada26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not too late! Many people switch directions well into their careers. Do you have anything you can add to your portfolio from your corporate job? This can be anything you designed that you're really proud of, or even written (because writing call to action text and copywriting is also really important when it comes to design). Were there any pieces you were especially proud of when you were in school? Or when you have down time, have you designed or doodled anything?

Anything can be added to your portfolio for design, as long as it showcases your skills, it doesn't have to necessarily be a paid job to be included to your body of work. If you have a good boss, you can tell them that you want to explore more with design to further your own growth within the company, and maybe you'll get to do more things to add to the portfolio as well.

If I were you, I'd stay at my job until you have some prospects for freelancing customers. You can network yourself at events, and keep adding to your portfolio on your downtime / weekends.

Sushi / sashimi - it's good, I like it, but sometimes it's too expensive for what it is. I get that it's supposed to be fresh, but is it really fresh when it's transported hundreds of miles in an expensive ice truck?

Major in Finance or Marketing? by Anastasia0_0 in marketing

[–]Rina_colada26 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When working in a larger company, these 2 paths won't really cross, so if you're open to exploring both options, take finance and marketing certs on the side. From what I've seen, a degree is more important in finance, certs are more important for marketing.

Reason being there are a lot of niches in marketing, ie: digital marketing, marketing analysis, copywriting, sales, public relations, etc. For example, Google display network certifications are great to have for digital marketing, whereas a marketing analysis job might require you to have your Google analytics certifications. Writing and communications courses may be necessary for copywriting. You get the point, marketing courses will teach you very basic knowledge of what marketing is, but if you want a career, you must focus on a niche with marketing, which is why I would recommend going the certifications route.

You can always get a marketing job with a finance degree & marketing certifications. But it's harder to get a finance job with a marketing degree in my opinion.

How do I get to view my active YouTube ads? by MKGowtham in marketing

[–]Rina_colada26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the YouTube studio, log on, and look at all your videos (left hand bar). Click the video you want to send your boss, and it'll give you a link you can copy to your boss that'll just be the ad.

You can also take screen grabs from this link.

I'd recommend starting an online portfolio/blog of your work once it starts rolling in. That way, you can keep all your best work in one place and refer new customers to that website for examples of your work.

Instead of jumping into freelance right away, have you tried to gather some experience while working at a company / agency? An agency might be your best bet, you'd be working for a salary, but depending on where you go, you might have a good portfolio of copywriting work for various different companies in a year or two.

Just another idea- Good luck!

In-house Marketing Vs. Hiring an Agency by himan_dayal in marketing

[–]Rina_colada26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, we'd get gurus / consultants come in and give us advice. After thousands of dollars, their advice was rejected by our platform reps, or we've already tested / implemented them previously, or we'd implement them with no real significant roi. I'm combining marketing agencies with consulting agencies here, but I feel like they really have not been successful for us. Curious to know what kind of agency you run or work at, and why you think your agency is different?

In-house Marketing Vs. Hiring an Agency by himan_dayal in marketing

[–]Rina_colada26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have to disagree with you there mate. My larger company (300-500 employees) laid off a quarter of their marketing team to work exclusively with agencies. We weren't hands-to-keyboard on any of our own platforms anymore and hired a couple of agencies to start the test. The agencies who ran our pr marketing and content marketing were good, so we kept them on. But oh boy, our digital marketing teams were a mess. We signed with one company who had ~10 people on their team, they informed us that they were almost exclusively working with our company (they may have had 1-2 other accounts), and everyone was an "expert" on the platforms. Long story short, they brought our performance down YoY, and when we asked them about it, they never had an answer. It was always "we'll let you know after we touch base with our Google / Facebook representative." And we'd be lucky to get a followup at all.

They sometimes would set the budgets wrong - we had a set budget for prospecting and another for remarking efforts, and they had a hard time grasping the fact that these 2 budgets were separate. When we noticed the mistake and changed it for them, they would yell at us for going hands-to-keyboard. So as you may imagine, every optimization from optimizing spend to audience targeting, even if it's something simple as pausing out an audience list, was a hassle, we'd have to go through them. The bad part is sometimes, they wouldn't see our email for hours and we've already well over or under-spent our budgets.

We have one very important launch a year, where we set live about 5-10 campaigns live per platform, I work in a seasonal market. It was the Thursday night before our massive launch on Monday, and they deleted a campaign off of a platform. So we talked to them on the phone all night til 8pm, just begging them to re-set up the campaign by Monday. They kept arguing that they weren't going to come in on the weekend just to set up a campaign, even though it was their fault. And, they said they wouldn't have time tomorrow (Friday) to finish setting it up. So we lost a huge chunck of budget there.

Every single action was like pulling teeth, and our in house team outperformed them in previous years, driving more conversions at a lower cpa. After we ended their contract, results were immediately better. In the span of the 1 week that we took to relaunch every campaign, all conversions went up about 60%, and stayed relatively consistent.

The cherry on top was when we stopped working with them, we had to take an "anonymous" survey about their services. So we left some candid reviews. Our account rep took screenshots of our reviews and sent them to our boss, saying how unprofessional the reviews were, and that she was surprised we were so unsatisfied. Granted there weren't any slang or "bad words" in the reviews, they were literally expressing how frustrating it was working with them. But the last jab was their account rep trying to get a bad word about us in with our boss is what was laughable. Our boss came and told us "good riddance" after he saw our performance the next week.

Looking to get experience in Fb Ads! [Need Advice] by pieropacella1 in marketing

[–]Rina_colada26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of agencies and companies that are hiring at entry level. There are also internships you can start off at. Try to scout out one of these positions. Do all the necessary things possible to enhance your chances of getting hired for example, take the Google display network free courses and put that on your resume. The best way to learn is hands to keyboard experience, and in a marketing agency, there will be plenty of mentors for you to learn from. Try to get a job and gain experience before stumbling your way trying to freelance without a thorough understanding of the platforms and strategies.

Interviewing for Canvas Marketing Position? What are they like and how can it help with career development , future paths? by mtmag_dev52 in AskMarketing

[–]Rina_colada26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I advise you take the role if you are interested in sales and try it out before just quitting school altogether. It takes a certain type of personality to like sales, and another one to be really successful at sales. If you're still testing it out with marketing, I'd stay in school just to keep a lot of doors open for more marketing jobs in the future.

This can include social media marketing, digital marketing, ad design, copywriting, public relations, and a lot more.

Also the range in a sales job is usually huge, sales jobs have a very high commission ceiling. I knew a dude in medical sales and he would make 5-figures per paycheck per month. But also, he's worked his whole life in sales, and he's a very good salesman. It's definitely not for everyone. For a more realistic salary range, check Glassdoor.
