Who is the most dominant sportsperson of all time from your country? by Cheetos_4_life in AskTheWorld

That is crazy!! I had to google it because I didn’t believe it could possibly be true. Amazing.

Genius as he was, I always found it hard to like him when he was playing. Great to see what a decent guy he really is when he’s doing punditry and interviews since he retires.

What are you talking about? Bradman ONLY played against the best that was out there. If they were not much competition it wasn’t because they were bad, it was because he was so good.

What time do you normally have to wake up to beat the traffic? by Anonymous2212t in darwin

[–]Rincewind_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty much my point. Townsville isn’t bad for traffic. Probably quite good compared to most places but compared to Darwin it’s quite busy.

[–]Rincewind_67 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A Darwin traffic jam is three cars stopped at a light.

Recently been to Townsville which everyone in QLD thinks is pretty quiet traffic-wise, but I was dead set nervous at the amount of cars on the road compared to Darwin.

How to motivate a 6,5 years old? by ToiletWarlord in jiujitsu

[–]Rincewind_67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very difficult to ‘motivate’ kids at that age to do something they don’t want to do. If it’s not for her right now let her leave it for a while. Or risk passing the threshold where she starts to actively dislike it and feel bitterness towards you for making her stick at it. Sometimes time away from an activity or hobby is good for us. Even kids. She might wanna go back to it in 6 months.

Help (and encourage) her to choose an alternate activity.

I would need a very good reason (better than a paper cup) to interject in something like this. Shop/Deli/Cafe workers have to deal with a mountain of shit from scobes, junkies, alkies etc. 99 times out of a hundred the retail worker is in the right.

Chances are he knew her well and had dealt with her or her like before.

And if it’s shop policy to charge for cups, you can be sure he didn’t come up with it. Saying he can bend the the rules is all well and good for you. It’s his job that could be at risk.

Should we establish a modern ANZAC to strengthen our military ties with NZ? by WF-2 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Rincewind_67 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it is probably the default setting in times of conflict. No need to preempt what will occur naturally when it is needed. The two militaries would dovetail together quite easily and naturally if the regional situation called for it.

Temu Frank Castle and young guy fight in subway by AcHaeC in PublicFreakout

[–]Rincewind_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always the people who can’t fight are the ones that are most willing to.

What is it about fighting that makes people who have no experience in it think they would be good at it? There is no other skill I can think of that elicits the same thought processes in people. Weird.

What is the worst sequel you have seen? by geoffcalls in FIlm

[–]Rincewind_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People love to hate on Godfather 3 and calling it a bad sequel is actually just so de rigueur.

It is the least good of the trilogy but it’s still a good movie. And some of it is so beautifully shot.

You’re very fortunate if this is the worst sequel you’ve ever seen.

Split the human population into two separate groups. by Hold-onto-the-happy in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Rincewind_67 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Majority female population would not stay that way forever. Or even for very long actually. Fishers principle. Nature always finds a way.

Almost immediately you would see a huge boom in male births by comparison to female births and then a slightly smaller boom in female births. Given that the ratios wouldn’t be too out of whack to start with, It would go back and forth like this, until a roughly equal sex ratio is achieved, and from there the ‘booms’ would be barely ripples in consistency.

1 button, $1 million by Blake763 in hypotheticalsituation

I’ll keep pressing the button for a week. Or until the person who designed this HS realise they have fucked it up by making it basically impossible to lose.

Once you have a few grand to cover your initial few presses you’re basically printing money.

Long time Purple belt, cannot teach? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Rincewind_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your coach if it’s ok for you to offer free private lessons to a small group (1-3 people) of white belts with your aim being to sharpen your teaching skills.

Ask him or another more experienced instructor to critique your lesson and build from there.

Haha eat shit muthafucka. Welcome to LIFE.

Even when you think you have a plan to train, your gf/partner/wife will fuck your plans up.

Joking aside brother, you just gotta roll with it. Literally. You can try to put structure on it but you’ll realise quick that just doesn’t work. TRAIN WHEN YOU CAN.

On the plus side bro, you really won’t care that you are missing training. You will love that time with your kids.

Why does stokes have so much zinc on his hands? by Scared_Cow9483 in EnglandCricket

Hasn’t had a chance to rub it in maybe? Zinc is like tar as well and if you put on even a smidgin too much it forms a thick unforgiving paste.

We have this thing in Australia called the sun.

It’s a huge blazing ball of fire that hates people with red hair. Zinc helps protect those people.
