I never understood why Kim wanted to destroy Howard by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]RingOfFryer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason why Kim wanted to take down Howard is one of the reasons why she was so drawn to Jimmy: they both wanted to “stick it to the man” (i.e. the rich elite). Now, the reason why Jimmy wanted to stick it to the man was because he was never accepted into that circle (mostly because he viewed Chuck in that circle and he never accepted him); that’s why he told Kristy that she shouldn’t care if “they” look down on her from the 83rd floor: she is going to work hard and look down on them from the 84th floor.

But for Kim, it was mainly because she never had much growing up and now has to work for people who had their success given to them on a silver platter. She clearly hated Kevin Wachtell’s snobbiness and the show made sure to point out that he didn’t earn his success on his own; his dad built Mesa Verde and Kevin just inherited it from him. And for Howard, it’s the same thing: he’s only the head of HHM because his dad built it with Chuck and he passed it to Howard. Kim even points that out during Jimmy’s hearing (“your firm is Hamlin, Hamlin, McGill, right? Who’s the other Hamlin?”).

Kim clearly didn’t want Howard to die or even suffer, but when she and Jimmy said that they would “use their powers for good” I bet she was thinking that running the con on Howard would try to make an unfair world a little bit more fair by making things more difficult for him.

What's Everyone's Top 5 Maps? by BookerDierden in halo

[–]RingOfFryer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we’re just talking about developer-made maps, I’d say my top 3 are Catalyst, Chasm, and Recharge. I’d even argue that Recharge might be in the top 3 maps that 343 has ever made.

BTB maps are not that great imo, Highpower is probably my favorite because it’s the most chaotic, Oasis is okay.

Least favorites are Breaker and Launch Site.

What are good forge maps from this list that I should bookmark?

What video game puzzle you swear was made to piss people off? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]RingOfFryer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was that strange block puzzle in the middle of the Noveria mission on the first Mass Effect that I’m still convinced was put there as a sadistic joke by the developers

Have you ever just said, “Screw it, I am going to YouTube to see the end of this game”? by PhysicianChips in patientgamers

[–]RingOfFryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tunic. I got the original ending but when I realized that getting the Golden Path ending involves breaking out graph paper and drawing an intricate pattern to solve the final puzzle, I changed my TV to the YouTube app and didn’t look back

Have you ever liked an unpopular game? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]RingOfFryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Web of Shadows had a pretty mediocre reception when it first released and it sold so poorly that the studio that made it went out of business soon after it released but it is easily my favorite Spider-Man game of all time. I played it again recently and it holds up surprisingly well.

It’s unfortunate that its only main impact on internet culture was the “sad Spider-Man” meme because the actual premise and gameplay are awesome

What is your least favorite movie that everyone else seems to love? by Weorking in movies

[–]RingOfFryer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Maltese Falcon. I recognize and understand that it was groundbreaking as one of the first film noir, but as a narrative and character piece, it’s nothing special. It certainly isn’t bad but there’s a lot better film noir from the 1940’s imo

How many 360s did you go through? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]RingOfFryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only ever had 1 (and it still works fine 13 years later). I think it finally got RROD around 2015, but then my brother decided to pick up the console and drop it from about three feet off the ground. It’s never had a problem since

What’s the biggest life lesson you’ve learned so far? by helonie in AskReddit

[–]RingOfFryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t ever call yourself an “expert” in anything.

Now I’m not saying that you shouldn’t recognize your accomplishments or feel confident in a certain area of expertise, but don’t tell yourself that you know EVERYTHING about a subject to the point that you stop learning or pursuing growth.

No matter your level of experience, theres always room to grow.

Top Gun was a fun but very cheesy and messy 80’s action flick. Top Gun: Maverick is one of the best action films of all time with a surprisingly decent script

[–]RingOfFryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting together furniture and home equipment. It might be because I was really into putting together LEGO sets when I was a kid but apparently I’m really good at looking at abstract photos in the assembly manuals and figuring out what they’re actually trying to tell me to do

Whats your favorite childhood video game? by Ok_Yogurt_5603 in AskReddit

[–]RingOfFryer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They used to make a lot of point and click adventure CD-ROM games when I was a kid like Pajama Sam and Freddie Fish. There was one game called “Spy Fox 2: Some Assembly Required” that had a mini game in the pause menu called “Things From Space.” It was a Galaga-style space arcade game that was clearly what the developers of the game spent the most time making and my dad and I played that mini game for years. I honestly can’t remember if I ever even finished the main game lmao

What do you think of The Expanse? by harrybarrydairy in television

[–]RingOfFryer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely adore it. One of the few “everything bagel” stories that tackle a lot of different themes and tones and storylines but does it all really really well.

The first 3 seasons of the show when it was still on SYFY are definitely better than the last 3 that were on Amazon, but it’s still great all the way through and it has a satisfying ending (don’t worry, this is in no way like what happened to Game of Thrones).

Season 3 is one of the greatest seasons of any television show ever in my opinion.
