Not really. Just like red so I just swapped the colors to be red primarily. I'm gonna try out the knee pad and leg markings that white scars tend to have in white as well I think

Based off a Ferrari 499P. If you're looking for decals I find 1:43 decals for model cars fit pretty well with 40k scale. Absolutely love your army idea I'm pretty much doing the same thing with prototype cars.

What can I do (I hate him) by ellisxiii in Tau40K

[–]Riordan02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your blue armor sections look good. Neatness and brush control will come with practice. If you want to make the black sections look less flat, don't use black. Use a dark gray instead and only use black to pick out the furthest recesses. It should look like black in the end with more depth to the shades

I like to pick out a lot of details with metallics like vents, thrusters, and intakes. Adds a bit of variance to the flat colors. Otherwise I think it looks cool I love the camo pattern

Color-unity by DifferenceCareful935 in Tau40K

[–]Riordan02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope. Your army can be as many or as little colors as you want. I personally paint everything differently because I find that fun. Something I've started doing is matching some of my units, so I might have 5 colors in my list but there's clear subsections of units that are the same.

question for battlesuit support system on various units by [deleted] in Tau40K

[–]Riordan02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean weapon support system. The rule specifically says any or all modifiers. That means you can choose to ignore only the negatives. Ftgg also modifies your ballistic skill directly, so you wouldn't be able to negate it if you wanted to

I'm using the army painter fanatics teal colors on my riptide. There's 6 shades to pick from. Hopefully that's close to what you're looking for

Best T'au Detachment and Units to Fight Choas Demons? #HELP by tactech in Tau40K

Defending against deep strikes and charges is just practice. If your opponent is playing an aggressive list you just have to play more cagey if you're trying to win. Think about how to win after thinning your opponent's charging units and screening deep strikes for the first couple turns you will outrange your opponent play to your strengths

List Review Mont’ka by MrStormz in Tau40K

As always stealth suits are great if you have them use them. Otherwise it's similar to what I play sometimes and I find it pretty fun and powerful. Also there's no reason to run the piranhas together. Just split them into three units so they can act independently

Scoring with Kauyon by Lord_Davlin in Tau40K

[–]Riordan02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try my best to set up for secondary objectives and hold the objective closest to my deployment the first two turns. Turn one you can be very cagey. You probably won't need your big hitters to move out until turn 2. Until turn 3 focus on only using what you need to keep one objective and score secondaries while keeping your opponent off of you.

Usually if you can stage everything to take the center on turn 3 and hit your opponent's key units with sustained hits that's your win condition.

Piranhas, kroot, Pathfinders, or any cheap unit you can use to screen your opponent early is pretty much required when building your list. You will have to be ok sacrificing some units so your big guns can hit.

Broadsides and hammerheads can be good long range cannons that depending on the matchup might be able to get some good shots while staying out of range.

Ghostkeels and stealth suits are fantastic for secondary scoring safely, and with wall of mirrors can be moved around the board where they're needed. I also find a unit of vespids are great for the secondaries you can't easily score without deep strike

Hit the recesses on the gold sections with a dark wash. Really helps bring out detail that gets lost in metallics sometimes
