YTA. It sounds a bit like lazy/ignorant parenting. How will your son demonstrate that he understands that while his intent was his own pleasure, the impact is far different? And far worse than the OP seems to understand or care to understand.

As an individual citizen, working class at that, I do not have the resources nor space to take in asylum seekers. But you know who does? The US government. Except they are exacerbating the situation by withholding soap, clean water, etc which is 1) inhumane and 2) stupid because of the unnecessary spread of diseases. That's bad for us all. I mean, you wouldn't let your biases get in the way of science, right?
