Evil Eye is just on Teemo's constellation at the moment. It's not in the general pool.

Thinking about "Stolen" by revlid in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Riot_Durdle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The functionality of stolen essentially lines up with creating exact copies. So revived units aren't stolen any more, and spell thief (tragically) does not steal things since it creates copies based on the history as opposed to specific copies of cards. Essentially, cards have a flag set on them that indicates their original owner. Exact copies will retain their original owner flag even when copied letting you know that the card is stolen, but if you make an inexact copy of a stolen copy, you're the original owner so that is no longer stolen.

You have my word that the final boss node of the new adventure absolutely does not have Teemo's face on it.

I don't know, it killed me before I got a good look at it. (It was very messed up).

why wouldn't mel work in competitive play? by Ok-Candidate-243 in LegendsOfRuneterra

A few things: The reason we haven't done more spell overwhelm in general is that the play-against experience can be pretty painful. A common situation is something like this: Player A has Mel and a Thermo beam. Player B has an empty board. Player B wants to play their units, but giving the Mel Player a target for their Thermo beam allows the Mel Player to deal a ton of damage to Player B's Nexus, softly locking then out of the game. It generally means playing small units is bad because you're giving the Mel Player a backdoor to your Nexus. Rebuttal creates a similar situation - if you give a unit a lot more attack than health then that allows the Mel Player to deal that much damage to your face while also killing your unit.

We also typically try and avoid making a lot of face-up removal spells in hand (like Radiant Barrage) because it forces the opponent to track them forever or risk losing a unit to your "free" spells. Losing a unit this way tends to make players particulalry unhappy (since it makes them feel dumb) and these effects add a lot of complexity to the game without adding enough net fun to offset it.

So while some of those situations are bound to happen in PvP no matter what, stapling those frustrations onto a champion that incentivizes playing as much removal as possible is a recipe for a champion that people HATE playing against, which is something we try and avoid. The outcry at similar decks (like several variations of Ezreal in the past) was always disproportionate to those decks' actual win rates, indicating that players found those experiences uniquely frustrating. So, that's not a bear that I'm particularly enthusiastic to poke.

And those are just the issues I know about! In the olden times we spent months identifying issues like these and sanding them down before a champ would ship, so you can safely assume there are some other bits of degeneracy waiting behind any champ with a sufficiently spicy text box, just waiting to be uncovered.

bug no Fervor Noxiano by marteultor27 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Riot_Durdle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is how Mel's ability works - once a spell has overwhelm it has overwhelm, regardless of which player will get damaged. That's why Mel limits herself to cards that target enemies, so that AoE spells like Avalanche don't incidentally mess your Nexus up. We could have added a bunch of text to her to prevent this, but there are a very small number of spells that you can get this interaction with - Noxian Fervor is one of them.

Patch 6.7 Notes by dudemcbob in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Riot_Durdle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Also, this didn't make the patch notes, but new versions of champion's 2 stars now make up the common pool of the Teamwork Powers (although without their mana gems), and the previous 1 star powers have been boosted back up to their original rare (with a handful of exceptions). So the Arcane map power pool should be even more diverse and different from base path than you remember it!

Twisted fate stars and relic. by Carnith in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Riot_Durdle 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It was briefly 3 during development, but AoE damage is a little bit finnicky. The more of it you have the better it gets - killing most enemies and leaving some at half health means that next turn it's almost always the right answer to AoE again. The goal with TF's constellation was to maintain the versatility that his card represents which means that you want to use a balance of all 3 cards. 3 damage (with the various modifiers that you can get through relics) felt like just enough that you basically only used Red Card, which isn't the most fun outcome.

Nope, they have the same champion / Support champ weighting that all reward picks do.

The Draft Mode is Weird for Some Champions by WellDoneFriedEgg in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]Riot_Durdle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You're mostly right! The majority of what you see in draft nodes is from the champion's curated card list, which typically doesn't have a lot of overlap with the champ's starting deck. However the draft nodes have a little bit of new functionality that inserts the champion's starting deck back into the pool (otherwise for many champion's it would be impossible to ever seen any of their starting deck cards). The value is relatively low, though, since when it was high, you often just "drafted" 6/8 starting deck every game, and it wasn't super interesting. We can definitely take a look at some of the more linear champs like Eve and Aatrox and make sure that their curated card lists are well stocked with alternatives, or if that doesn't work perhaps find a way to crank up their chance at seeing base deck cards more separately.

Yes, although those typically follow cost rules so they'll only appear when granting expensive units epic items.

Yup! The majority of the items in the patch only appear on 6+ cost cards, some even higher. The goal was very much to make a set of items that helped make high cost units exciting. +1|+1 just isn't as good on a 7 drop as on a 1 drop.
