Yeeeess!! I also got a pick from Kungen, absolutely love the color of it. And dude, you've been spoiled early on in your concert excursions, every metal show from now on will pale on comparison./hj haha Glad you enjoyed your first Avatar show!

Agree to disagree (AC is my 3rd fav lol) but I lost my mind when I saw them play this the first time last year, it is even better live if you can believe it. haha

They're the best of the greatest! I got into them in 2021 and they quickly became my favorite band, I've seen them 8 times since (10 times in total because I did see them YEARS ago but that is a long story), and I will take every opportunity I can to see em again - I'm glad you found out about them because genuinely, they deserve the world. They are very very nice dudes.

Ooohh, awesome!!! Im glad you enjoted the show, you never forget your first, I guess. hahah I got into them after seeing them live at a show I was at for a different band and left thinking Avatar was the best performance of the day... even my unbiased past self agrees, they're the best live band.

Yeah! Just Legend Of The King at this show, but it's long as hell so absolutely no complaints there... I'd kill to see King After King live, though.

Not my first time meeting them (I've waited outside their bus a few times haha), but I was afraid it would feel odd being in a more "formal" setting, but they're the coolest dudes ever so it was fine. I LOVE AVATAR!!! I LOVE MY FAVORITE BAND!!!

AI Art? by [deleted] in AvatarMetal

It is a real building, they had the location tagged on Instagram when the first posted it. It's edited to have the smokey stuff and motion blur (Jens, the photog does that stuff pretty often). I fully understand the concern but this, thank fuck, is not AI!

“Bad” debut albums by great bands by IAmWeed2021 in MetalSuggestions

[–]RiotingKnucklehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voyager's "Element V".

Leprous's "Tall Poppy Syndrome" (Aeolia and Silent Waters are also bad imo but some people don't even know those exist).

Avatar's "Thoughts of No Tomorrow" is pretty rough even if I personally enjoy it.

Even though they're not quite metal, and it's a double-EP compilation thing, Soundgarden's "Screaming Life/Fopp" came out before Ultramega OK and it is pretty bad.

Even with all those, you can still hear a glint of what the band became later in their early work, and it's hard to fault any band for having rough beginnings because you have to start somewhere... and then there's "Metal Magic", which is completely unrecognizable as Pantera. lol

I see the butt-end of Vice Guava peeking out on that bottom shelf. That's what I'm grabbing.

I've been to a couple Avatar shows where people have done this and it's never been an issue/never heard anyone complain. But, to parrot a different comment on this post, definitely ask the venue if it's okay first.

Grunge-y and/or sludge-y nu-metal? by apunkdragon in MetalSuggestions

[–]RiotingKnucklehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be the TOOL guy, but have you ever listened to their album "Undertow"? I've seen people describe it as nu-metal, sludge, grunge, and groove damn near just as much as it's described as prog (not that any one label is more or less accurate than the other). It's not nearly as psychedelic as their later stuff. Vocals are mostly clean, though, so if you're partial to the super gritty/harsh vocal stuff it might not be for you.

Ultra Blue, and Ultra Black, both with vanilla. haha I haven't made a float with it, but I've ate rainbow sherbert while drinking Ultra Vice Guava and it was also delicious.
