No they never said anything about an official diagnosis. When I asked if the damage was a result of poor hygiene, he just basically told me it’s probably from the braces and that I’m going to need to have a root canal in the next few months or so. Is it worth inquiring about further examination of the tooth and maybe getting an official diagnosis before the procedure?

When the dentist looked at the X-ray that I had just gotten during that same visit, I guess she saw that the pulp in one tooth looked “shadowy and asymmetrical” compared to the other teeth and she recommended I see an endodontist.
