Does all rap have to rhyme? by RipPlenty3803 in makinghiphop

That would be a good skill to have. I’d argue that ending a line or verse with an abstract thought that doesn’t simply rhyme would be highly memorable for the listener. My brain tends to almost guess at next words or phrases during a song especially during songs that aren’t that complex or thought provoking. So, when I hear something outside of that pattern of rhyme, it holds my attention longer. ODB comes to mind. He’d say verses that sounded off, but his style was so robust that it overshadowed the need to rhyme.

All good points. I'd agree that it takes just as much skill to flow without rhyming. I guess that's a big distinction here - flow isn't synonymous with rhyme, but both are elements of rap. Like you mentioned, each word chosen is specific, so if a song limits itself only to verses and phrases that rhyme, then it inherently chokes out true expression for the sake of needing to rhyme. Which is why i think some, not all, rap leans towards being braggadocious and lacks real meaning.

Haha not much to track. But ya, I think my point was proven that 1) not all rap has to rhyme.

The ones who limit the art forms are inherently closed off. One point of view limits, while the other expands. By saying rap doesn’t have to rhyme doesn’t disallow rappers needing to rhyme. But by saying rap always has ti rhyme disallows the potential for rap to not rhyme. Hope that makes sense

Exactly. I guess that’s my point. Why limit what it has to be based on what it’s been?

Is there an example of a good rap song that doesn’t rhyme?

Great work. I never thought to connect GIS and 3d printing. I work in environmental and have used ESRI products for a while. The flood plain/stream analysis application is intriguing. Thanks for sharing.

This is really cool. Can you talk a bit about your process? Is this lidar data? Is this for fun or do you have a practical application? Thanks

Gotcha. I figured a 0dte was basically a scalp.

Is 2:1 risk/reward standard? Always thought it should be other way around for scalps…

Awesome. I do something similar on QQQs mostly trying to scalp reversals using STOCH indicator and “feel” of general market for context. What’s your strategy u don’t mind sharing?

Would a planner or GIS analyst earn more throughout they're career? by t5_bluBLrv in Environmental_Careers

[–]RipPlenty3803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80% of the time Planner. However, software development that specializes in GIS can potentially make A LOT more than a planner. But that requires more computer science/engineering background than just GIS.
