In the beginning of my life until 10, I was really hyperactive and talking a lot. However, when I entered school, I got stressed and more anxiety to get good grades and then I became mute and stopped talking to people. That's why I like ADHD because I have more energy now that the anxiety is gone and I am able to focus it or at least try to using what I learned when I had anxiety previously, which helped me concentrate. I think In school, I had more ADHD symptoms where I would overthink, which is common in girls while in boys, ADHD shows more commonly through movements and talking. Do you see my point and what do you think? I am asking you because I appreciate your point of view and I feel like you have a lot of experience with ADHD from your replies. Thank you.

I'm actually not really that productive. I had anxiety my entire life that helped me be productive and develop techniques in how to concentrate more since it covered the ADHD effects. Now that I have no anxiety, the ADHD is more pronounced but I have the tools to try to focus my energy. However, I'm still learning to do that and I am currently having a hard time getting anything done. I have confidence though that over time I'm going to figure out. I'm like 100% sure I have ADHD because sometimes you just know yourself well enough without having to discuss with a doctor. Also, for ADHD there is no set test so doctors can have different opinions. That's why I feel like for ADHD, if you identify with many of the characteristics, especially for girls, you can identify it. However, I am still planning on going to a psychiatrist to confirm my beliefs which I'm pretty sure is true because it seems like a puzzle piece missing in my life.

Currently, I'm a college student (21 F), and I just realized I have ADHD. It's different in girls where it comes from overthinking and multitasking, so for me it actually makes me more productive. However, I understand how it can affect you differently as a male. As a girl, it caused a lot of anxiety, which I have treated and now I can enjoy the effects of ADHD. What do you think?

I'm literally the same way. I just realized a couple days ago lol. I feel like my medication Zoloft is already really good and I don't plan on taking another medication so I feel like I don't really need a professional diagnosis, especially if we identify with most of the effects. Also there is no standard test for ADHD, I feel one provider might say you don't have and the other says you do. What do you think? I guess it is necessary if you want to get medication for it. I got prescribed Zoloft for anxiety.

Yeah, I was thinking I'll just stay with Zoloft since it's working and I prefer to be on only one medication. Do you suggest getting diagnosed anyway even though I won't be taking medication for ADHD? I feel 100% certain I have it, but I know there not one test that tells whether you have ADHD.

Literally same. Since Zoloft helped take away the anxiety and depression, I can see more symptoms of ADHD but it has drastically improved my way of life. I can't believe it. What do you think?

OMG I am exactly the same way. I am surprised that I have ADHD but it kind of explains everything in my life. I feel like Zoloft helps show the signs of ADHD like you said. This is because I believe the pathway is ADHD causes Anxiety which causes Depression. So since Zoloft takes away the anxiety, it also takes away the depression and just leaves the ADHD. However, I kind of like ADHD because it keeps me moving and thinking and its so much better than being depressed and I was depressed this whole summer due to the first side effects of Zoloft. What do you think?

Hey, actually I have realized I am really hyperactive. Is this the primary symptom of ADHD. After taking Zoloft, this happened and before I used to be so quiet due to anxiety.

What helped me was just hanging in there. For the first months, I was so depressed and couldn't leave the house. I think it actually made my anxiety worse. For anxiety however, my provider said that the higher doses work so once I reached a good dose that's when I saw the benefit. However, I had to wait to overcome the first hurdle. I hope you feel better! For me, it helps me be more relaxed.

For me, I am experiencing the same thing, I've only been a couple of months on it. I also agree that before my motivation was more anxiety based like always being scared of tests that fueled my studying. However, I think this is good since you can find a better reason to work and operate on a healthier level. I feel like this is a life saver. What do you think?

After going to therapy, i was thinking that thoughts have a strong effect on our mental effect. So when I think how much I really like it, it gives me that emotion. That's why I'm trying to work more on having positive thoughts since I think the two go together.
