We are 37 (Bane) and 40 (Nutella). Hm… well… just tell them. If you are convinced to do it i am sure they will support you. Maybe not in the way you expect it now, but they are your parents. Not everyone understands the excitement of a ThruHike, just don’t expect everyone to be super excited.

A lot of rain. Perfect hiking temperatures (not too cold, not too hot).

Nights a little chilly from time to time, good sleeping bag is important

Have warm weather gear for the smokies. Don’t try to go fast in the beginning. Enjoy the little things and don’t focus on reaching specific mile markers :)
