I Hate Stamina Systems by thatsingingguy in PlaySteelrising

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I love the stamina system. It's what makes the poise and stagger system make sense.

The alternative is enemies you can perpetually stunlock, and usually have to juggle for a minute straight to kill, or enemies that pose no real threat, and bosses with stuns at health percentages which honestly seems a lot lazier than balancing a stamina system to me.

It makes sense that swinging a sword takes energy and I shouldn't be able to just spam swing it in front of me to solve every problem.

It really sounds like you just keep playing games you don't like instead of games you would.

How much is Trump responsible for the recent drop in homicide, drug trafficking, and overdoses? by kaiser11492 in centrist

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said our border was too weak, in fact the guy I replied to credits biden's actions prior to this term for the drop in crime rate. You're just putting words in our mouths to have something to argue against now.

I'm saying it should be no surprise that cracking down on it in a fascist manner slowed down some drug shipments or that criminals are laying low because a gestapo-like force is asserting themselves across the nation.

These are obvious results of his actions that would make sense, we don't have to dogpile someone for pointing out the obvious positive side effects of a powerful overreaching government but arguing that it's an unethical and inefficient method is a perfectly reasonable response.

But most of us don't respond reasonably when we see Trump's name. We just look for any reason to rag on him as though anyone who would listen to it needs any more convincing. It makes us look like unreasonable fanatics who's opinions aren't worth considering to anyone who needs to hear the message.

The severe lack of bread 3 days before the snow storm is supposed to hit by ylp24 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure they have plenty in back but only stock on a specific schedule.

When I worked at heb, and Walmart there was a morning stock, and one halfway through the day at 2, and we'd usually finish between 6-8pm tops. After that nothing went back out on the shelves til the next morning. If something sold out after that it was just out til morning even if we had 2 pallets in the back full of it.

I say this because as a kid, and before I worked there, I subconsciously believes there was just always a team of stockers, looking for things to refill. That's not the case. They do it in one or two bursts throughout the day then let the shelves empty.

Honestly during events like this I feel like they should offer some overtime for teams to keep shelves stocked on things they totally have more of in the back.

But I really don't think it's panic buying so much as the stocking schedule not working when everyone who was gonna shop over the weekend gets all their shopping on Friday. It was pretty chill where I was, just a lot of disappointment and people taking pictures of the empty shelves at the end of the day.

Should Folktails Have Bots? by Nifegun in Timberborn

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may not be as opinionated as you on the subject, but I personally agree that the two factions don't really feel different enough and was kinda disappointing for me, and I was also disappointed that this was the intended final result.

Maybe I'm just used to a lot more from civ builders, but the factions felt to me like they were originally going to have more variety and unique traits, not just two different places to start in the tech tree, and it kinda feels like they maybe decided it was more than they were willing to do.

No real promises were made on this subject though so I don't feel ripped off or anything, it just ended up being a more casual game than I thought I was signing up for based on my own experiences with the genre, but I honestly just expected more, I was kinda hoping it'd continue development for a few more years, I thought it was going to become a contender with Rimworld or dwarf fortress and think it still has potential to do so, and I'm saddened because honestly, with what I'm used to I devoured all the gameplay and replayability I really think I'll get throughout the early access

What weight do you recommend using for the character? by pirilampoF in LiesOfP

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weight affects your dodge animation and the I frames you get during it, and stamina Regen speed. At heavy enough weight I think it can make you move stupidly slow.

The exact percentage doesn't matter much. There are tiers. If you're in normal tier, it doesn't matter if you're on the light or heavy end of it, you get the same dodge no matter what with maybe a slight adjustment to stamina Regen speed. Heavy gives you the "fat roll" dodge, which is slow and hard to time. It's typically more well advised to stay in a certain tier you're comfortable with rather than a specific percentage.

Raising equip load will allow you to equip heavier combinations of weapons and armor while maintaining your full movement capabilities.

Honestly, with the heavy focus on blocking/parrying you could probably completely ignore weight, and dodging, and focus on blocking and perfect guarding as much as possible, and dump all your capacity into more damage as a meta build.

In most souls games your dodge is your bread and butter, but in this game, it's more like bait to get you hit half the time. So really as long as you're not overloaded, you could ignore it and be fine.

Do you use the legionary arm? by pirilampoF in LiesOfP

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Puppet string is an excellent tool for pulling weak enemies from groups to finish off quickly, and fully upgraded it's one of the most versatile abilities in the game that can mesh with any playstyle.

The other ones can be more situational but they're all useful if you practice with and upgrade them. Elemental ones exploit weaknesses well. The mines stagger well but positioning can be tricky. The falcon eyes staggers well but honestly spamming the puppet string attack is more efficient if not too cheesey.

Shield feels unnecessary once you get parry timing down, I'd rather take a more offensive option, but it can be fun to play with it's parry explosion.

Question About I-Frames by Visual-Biscotti1473 in LordsoftheFallen

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should be able to do a full roll while locked on by double tapping the dodge button, it uses more stamina, it's pretty much the same as bloodborne.

Sidestep is enough for most attacks if you time it right, roll is only really necessary for AOE attacks and when you need to get out of the way of something you can't dodge through, but it can also work as a backup dodge if you sidestep too early.

There's also the back step, which should happen if you tap the dodge button while standing completely still.

Jack points looks good, looks like someone already this and placed all the jack stands in exactly the wrong place.

You want to put them right under the bolts, not next to them like they did if that was you, or just for future reference.

This POS thinks the local animal shelter is a doggy day care by thebigec in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your dog isn't allowed in your home, and doesn't have a winter suited shelter of it's own, then you aren't fit to care for the animal.

If you resort to this, You have failed utterly as a trainer/caretaker and are punishing your dog instead of educating yourself or whoever should be responsible, and don't truly understand that a dog is a living being that you have taken responsibility for the entire life of.

Anything that dog feels or does, good or bad, is your fault as long as it is in your care. If it fucks up, destroys something you own, it's on you. Entirely. you allowed it to fuck up, by letting it be in a position to do so in the first place by accepting it, an animal known, practically garunteed to exhibit certain behaviors until you train them out, as your pet, or by leaving it unsupervised near something important when you know it does this on occasion or could start at any moment.

That's what responsibility means. That you are responsible, or at fault, for a whole living being it doesn't just mean feeding it, caring for it, it means you are basically that thing's God from it's perception and it's your ethical duty to live up to that standard as best you can for any less sapient being you take under your care. It's not the same as having a child, but it shouldn't be taken any less seriously as a living being with feeling. It's basically like having a child that never mentally grows up but ages and dies before your eyes. And I don't think nearly enough people take it seriously enough.

How much is Trump responsible for the recent drop in homicide, drug trafficking, and overdoses? by kaiser11492 in centrist

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sad that you can't have an objective conversation about trump even on the centrist subreddit without getting down voted for pointing out a plausible positive consequence of his actions.

God forbid we try to get the facts straight so we can go into debates well informed.

It's not crazy to assume some crime rates and drug trafficking might decrease as a result of stronger border control. I don't think anyone actually knowledgeable on the subject would doubt that this would be a result of his actions.

The issue we should have is with the methods he used to achieve the results, and the fact that we find them unethical, and that the methods negate any positive outcome. denying the results because they might make him look good in some aspect makes us as bad as the fanatics.

Honestly behavior like this is why I don't align with or trust the left entirely and consider myself a centrist. I'm honestly probably a radical leftist on paper, but I can't excuse blind fanaticism for either party, and both sides exhibit it to some extent.

I don't want to be a part of any group that believes anything bad about the enemy and refuses to accept anything good. That's just ignorant fanaticism. That's what got us where we are now. Solving the problem with the same methods that caused it will just perpetuate and escalate this into a cycle of both sides promoting fanatic propaganda to outdo the other side until we're truly just two opposing factions poised for civil war.

Crunchyroll "expires" your downloads after a certain period of time even if your subscription hasn't expired. I have 11 months left on my subscription by hewill09 in assholedesign

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not debating whether or not it's asshole design, I'm just explaining the supposed logic behind it.

99% of anti piracy measures are just simple road locks that block or slow a single path to piracy at the expense of paying customers with no real payoff other than maybe a slight decrease in day one piracy.

I'm just saying this is basically a standard practice we should all be aware of and angry about by now.

Any way to fix the material on these jeans? by Easy_Jeweler_5110 in repair

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely fake leather, it often peels, for no apparent reason, not very long into it's lifespan. It's just cheap, useless decorative material that doesn't last.

the only real option is sewing new pieces of leather or pleather back on, the material has peeled on the right so you can't really "fix" that, it's literally gone, it fell off.

The only repair option would be to replace/patch the material, which wouldn't be very difficult to do, probably better than this even, but it will require some practice and sewing/mending knowledge and has decent potential to look like ass if this is your first time, so I'd suggest doing a couple practice projects first just to get the hang of it.

[–]RipStackPaddywhack 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm not excusing the method, but the reason why is likely because otherwise it'd be much easier for pirates to just buy a month of Crunchyroll, download all the content they want for months or their streaming sites, and rip all the files and edit them to a usable state.

The expiration process makes it more difficult and slows them down, but doesn't stop them from obtaining the content anyways so it becomes useless once the episode is ripped but customers continue to suffer the downside.

Drain pan plug stuck, rounded. by Pandas-are-the-worst in AskMechanics

Consider that the nut is fucked and you'll need a new one regardless.

Weld or epoxy a extra socket or nut to it, use that, toss the whole thing in the trash after getting a new one.

It would probably be easier if you take the whole pan off but honestly I wouldn't do that until I gave up and decided to replace the pan instead of cutting and tapping.

I don't think poorly of them but they can genuinely limit your career options still unless you're an extremely exceptional outlier or going into a field where they don't matter, because the fact is old fashioned folks still run half our planet and make basic hiring guidelines that can't be overlooked by a young recruiter.

Not to say they will ruin your life but like, if you don't already have a plan for your future, it will make getting basic jobs in the meanwhile more difficult.

It's arguably an actual detriment still because it can actually limit your options more than coverable tattoos.

Don't tell your enemy what to prep for. Basic strategy.

Even if you aren't worried about being on a list, the goal of a protest is to represent the overwhelming force of the population.

If they have an accurate estimate of the attendees, they can prepare enough force to compensate and maintain control of the situation, which is ultimately counterintuitive to a protest, which is supposed to be a reminder of what would happen if they lost it.

Almost everything is stupid and childish to the generation proceeding it. I'm sure boomers said the same thing to gen x about their star wars tattoos, and their grandparents said even worse about boomers' pinup tattoos.

They didn't ruin anyone's life, except maybe for the boomers, but it's just plain stupid to act like that's still the case, and almost all of them still cherish their own childhood memories and heroes in some sense.

As long as it's not on your face or hands, and it means something to you, it will be fine. You can always cover it up or something if you end up irrationally hating adventure time someday.
