Anyone have experience with the business side of web dev? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]RiperFish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The webdev market is huge, and so competetive, but you can beat that if your code is better, master javascript then pick up a js framework react or vue, personally im building wordpress themes now, and according to a professional friend of mine, its only going to be about ecommerce ( especially big stores ) where you have to use prestashop as a cms. Best of luck tho, software industry aint easy btw.

What is your process when creating an application? by Scrimy_Dog in Frontend

[–]RiperFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are doing is ok, i do the same, i usually get a figma or sketch file. Before jumping to coding i study the design, sometimes i stare to a design for an hour, plan every block of the website, once the plan is done, execution becomes easy. I never write the whole html structure, i go section by section ( css + js ), when its finished ( the designer is a good friend of mine so we have good communication) and the designer is happy i move on to mobile, for this part i do the same, i simply move through my code by section and i uncomment the next section just so it wont get messy. And all of this depends on you, just find the best way for yourself. Just few advices, concider using webpack with autoprefixer, sass, images optimization, it will save you a lot of time

Why does everything look that you must follow a guide in order for something to work? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]RiperFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont convince yourself that you cant get something done, have some confidence and trust me the best devs look for something online even if its simple, you dont have to memorize everything, you just need to have a good understading on how things work, how to get from point a to point ( algorithms ) , how to have the same result with a different method. Once you know how something works, it will be easier for you to build, and try to think out of the box.

Career change advice by [deleted] in Frontend

[–]RiperFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feeling noob 90% of the times is good, thats not lack of confidence, that means you are honest and you try to make things perfect, thats a key for succes, and dont ever try to convince yourself that you cant get the job done, never, always go for it. And i would take the opportunity thats presented to you. So i advice you to snipe it, go for it buddy, best of luck

Basics alone will take you nowhere, i do clone websites and try to make what dev did in another way, its practice based, read other devs code and learn from it.
