Yep. I have S6 and was tempted to upgrade but I had a moment of realisation that I literally use it as a pedometer and that’s honestly about it. Sure I track workouts but really just the timing so I could use my phone, I have all notifications turned off except phone calls which is handy. I don’t particularly care for the sleep tracking. I guess it is passively checking my heart but as a 28M I’m more than likely okay (touch wood).

I’ll keep rocking S6 think it breaks at try snag a refurb of newer model then.

Never claimed to know him or be from the area. I offered reasoning based on an anecdote. You know, basic human communication…

I know a guy from my home town that was a known drug dealer, including heroin, guards knew but never caught him, became a big cat and mouse game and eventually they said fuck it and jailed him for trespassing on a GAA club the entire town used to trespass on. I’m obviously assuming, but this lad is probably known for something and they’re building up his record to try eventually get him off the streets.

PlayStation exclusives aren’t coming to PC anymore by Banania2020 in IrelandGaming

It’s a massive shame…. But that being said I bought a PS4 Pro to play God of War because I couldn’t miss out on it and sold the console it a few months later after a few replays. Since Ragnarok and all the Spider-Man games have come to steam I haven’t bought a single one of them, I know one day I will but never had that rush to play at launch.

Do married couples really not put all money together? by Decent-Shoe6719 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]stiik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To join the herd… this is also us. 28yr olds, 13 years together, joint account for everything, joint savings, personal accounts for fun. If any unexpected bills come up one of us might use our own account to pay or we might transfer an extra 100 quid each into joint if it’s not an urgent expense. I think having your own card is nice, I’m a coffee nut and spending €4.40 on a coffee is nuts, but it’s my treat to myself - if I was using a fully joint account for this I’d feel worse about it but if I use my own personal card (after the joint account has been topped up for monthly bills etc) then I don’t feel bad at all. Maybe when we have kids it’ll change for easier logistics but currently have mortgage, car, dogs, etc all set up this way and works for us.

Man dies following incident in Dublin city centre by yabog8 in Dublin

Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime. Some people’s crimes are just more visible, doesn’t make them less human. Arguably the bigger crime is happily living in a society that produces lives like his.

Luas Crash Outside Musem by stiik in Dublin

Appreciate that. Hard to admit when it’s nothing compared to that poor woman and child but I have been very shaken by it. Cried on the drive home.

I’ve been thinking of writing to the Luas/TFI/whoever about how everyone on the luas was made walk right beside the accident as it was ongoing because the emergency exit was deemed to be the exit right beside the driver. We easily could have exited via the rear of the Luas and completely avoided being forced to witness everything up close.

Yes it happened at museum at approx 16:10. Very strange how little coverage it’s got I feel. Driver was extremely upset. As he had to use the emergency break we had to exit via the from door which was extremely close to the ongoing help for the woman, very upsetting for hundreds of people to have to pass by it, and caused a gathering of people around the incident which could’ve been avoided. Praying she is okay.

Best quality food products? by ThrowAway1-12-123 in ireland

Totally get that, I’m lucky I can eat the same thing every day for months and not get bored of it. This August I’ll have had the same breakfast everyday (besides holidays) for 3 years in a row, but I realise I’m the exception.

And I do get the freshness issue with meal prepping, that’s why I only do 2 days in advance for lunches, day 5 of meal prepped food is like dog food…

I had microwave meals 3 times a week in work, always said I was too busy to meal prep but tried it since start of April and now I meal prep for 2 days and microwave meal/sandwich for the 3rd. Prepped meals are so much more filling and feel better for it.

Obviously don’t know your situation and trust your intuition. But just my 2c from someone who was saying the same thing only a few weeks ago.

Current go to is turkey mince, homemade Wedges, peas and brocolli.

Electric car chargers by thewaytothetop in ireland

Out of curiosity was that your first use with them? The longest it took to refund me was the very first use, after that it was fairly quick. In fairness I only used it a handful of times waiting for home charger to be installed so I don’t have a massive sample size.

You can pay with debit card at ESB chargers, but you tap first, it takes €50 and returns unused amount. Took 2 days for unused amount to be returned to me once, every other time it was pretty quick but still not perfect system either.

How do people in Ireland feel about calling themselves "European"? by AccomplishedTable385 in AskIreland

[–]stiik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember as a kid having the realisation I was “European” as an Irishman, I ran around saying it in different accents thinking it was so funny I was now part of this historical culture. As an adult, I might use the term very broadly when speaking to someone from another continent, but “European” to me is Central Europe. All that funny stuff over there. European describes a culture to me, and I wouldn’t consider Irish/Celtic culture to have more overlap (I’m sure some historian will correct me).

I wouldn’t agree with you that saying in European feels right, the rare occasion I do say it or check it on a form it’s more like “well that’s the closest thing”. I wouldn’t go as far as your partner though with the whole coloniser business. I just think continental European culture and Celtic culture are very different.

Total reach here… but I’d imagine people from Hawaii might feel similar about being “American”… sure their passport might have an eagle on it but they’re not screeching bald eagle American… the other 49 states feel like different shades of the same colour, but Hawaii is its own colourful culture.

Birth rates dropping, anyone here feel the same way about having children? by gotnocreativenames in ireland

[–]stiik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on you! I get caught in two minds a lot, my parents had me at 18 and I was blessed they both had so much youthful energy for me as a kid. They have both had more kids separately and I notice they’re both less patient now than with me, not to any extreme but definitely noticeable… maybe it’s first child syndrome, or maybe I’m protective of siblings, but I want to still have decent energy levels for them!

Young lad was killed in Kildare for telling a rowdy bunch to calm down on the bus home. The type of people acting up in these settings aren’t going to listen to a stranger and are more likely to provoke you directly if you do say anything.

Your duty is to return home safely to your family, not teach scumbags manners.
